My ip address drastically changed yesterday (from 12.206.x.x to 24.15.x.x, dns changed from *.attbi.com to *.comcast.net).
As far as i can tell, speeds are the same (though i didn't reset my modem, will do that tonight after work).

Yeah, seems like some people (in the Bay Area, at least) got their upgrade several days before the "official" date of the 16th...yay

Does anyone know when the Central Valley of CA is having the Comcast upgrade? (Fresno Area?)

I'm still getting 1.5mbps here.

Be careful with the new "faster" caps, folks. Comcast is starting to suspend the accounts of people who use up too much bandwidth. Nevermind that THEY'RE the ones increasing the caps, or that there's no specific amount of bandwith they have in mind... They're just doing it to whoever they want, whenever they decide you've used too much.

More info over at the DSLReports Comcast forum, including this thread.

Filtered the port or just their NNTP server? As far as I could tell their server has always been filtered. That's why I picked up usenetserver.com...

my cable modem got boosted to 3000/256 speeds before Thanksgiving. I was running at 1700/256 before, so the new download boost is very much welcomed. I realized it when I lost my connection for a few minutes, and my ip address of 2 months changed.

By the way, for those wanting speed-test websites that also checks your upload speed other than DSLREPORTS, please try out these following sites:

http://miranda.ctd.anl.gov:7123/
http://cemp1.switch.ch/network/performance/web100/tcpbw100.html
http://speedtest.umflint.edu/
http://nitro.ucsc.edu/
http://netspeed.stanford.edu/
http://jlab4.jlab.org:7123/
http://web100.rit.edu:7123/

these pages run an upload and download test for 10 seconds each way. please try a test site out a few times to make sure you are getting an even rating.

good luck and enjoy!

TCP/Web100 Network Diagnostic Tool v5.2.0f
click START to begin
Checking for Middleboxes . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Done
running 10s outbound test (client to server) . . . . . 252.68Kb/s
running 10s inbound test (server to client) . . . . . . 1.69Mb/s
Your PC is connected to a Cable/DSL modem

For people in the Boston area I got the news at work on Friday that the downstream speed in the formerly AT&T Broadband part of New England would double (from 1500 to 3000) on Wednesday the 17th.

They just upped it here in the Boston area. I cycled my modem and I downloaded the 15meg testfile in 40 secs.

Your download speed : 3374704 bps, or 3374 kbps.
A 411.9 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 239449 bps, or 239 kbps.
Seems like broadband .. above the 1mbit barrier!

So I called Comcast today, and apparently the 94014 zip code is the only area in the Bay Area that hasn't been upgraded yet...

I've been getting an average of 3.2 megabytes with RR for a year and a half now ...sometimes peak as high as 5!
I use speakeasy, pc pitstop, mcafee and bp for testing purposes.

Where's the deal? What does comcast cost?

What part of Boston area? I'm on the North Shore (Lynn) and it doesn't look like I got it yet. I've powercycled the modem...

Update: Called comcast who told me that I've been upgraded to 3mps. He reset my modem remotely. Still getting 1.5 mps ratings. Any clues?
