The official launch date for this was Dec. 10. Alot of the sales reps probably wont know about this offer untill the end of at least this weekend and on Monday they should be able to set this up with less/no problems.

I spent an hour over 3 different phone calls... the reps have no -f-in clue how to add this deal to my current service. I was transferred 3 times and disconnected once. Their customer reps suck. I'll try again on Monday.

Comcast is my only option right now.....having problems with it, and they won't fix.

Yeah nice they up the peak limits to 6mb/256k, but latency keeps getting worse.

Some nights, I can't find a sever less than 150ms!!! for 1st person shooters, that's a death sentence.

Comcast won't "fix" it since nothing is wrong, and they only guarantee 128k/128k service.....

ugh....

There we go. figured it out.

after using live chat, calling, and scouring the website. I found that at the bottom of an obscure promotional page for it.

So I thought that more affordable broadband would be coming out soon according to our US government?

All I see is that they speed up the connections and want people to pay even more.

Pure BS.

Yes its the government fault, not the actual company offering the service!!!

Do it online, and fill in all the boxes even though they don't apply (b/c you don't need an installation visit, etc, and pick some scheduled times, etc. At the end, you get in to live chat, they upgrade you there and say ok, powercycle your router, we are done.

If it doesn't show up for you in the link the OP posted, it's not available in your area.

EDIT:

first rep disconnected/hung out after I finally got him to see the offer on their OWN website

second rep took forever to find it on their website, felt like I was working giving her directions to find something on their own website, eventually she sees it and then says she needs to transfer me to that department after putting me on hold for 10 minutes if not more. That department just rings and rings.

I can't believe I still put up with such inferior service with FIOS options avaliable to me.
Well, actually I don't have home telephone service so I can't get FIOS on that, but I can easily add it and have FIOS.... Ugh...

EDIT 2:

I figured I give myself to calm down and call for a 3rd, I ask for a manager because it's insane to have to call 2+ times to add some promo offer...

He goes to comcast.NET to look for this offer... Anyhow, set him straight, and then he puts me on hold. He comes back on the line and navigates me to the page I've been telling his reps how to get to on my previous 2 calls for some reason. I was already there and he just tells me to go there with no further instructions, so I ask am I suppose to do something? He says no, but he is going to try to add the offer. Well, wtf was the point of showing me the page I already found and was on... Anyhow, nearly an hour has been wasted with this and I expect something better than giving me up to 2 MB of "faster" service for the price I am paying now. He tells me he can't do that because the FCC has to approve their credits... That sounds like BS to me though. He says he will give me a call back after he adds it.
....
Fast forward to later and he calls to tell me he couldn't find the rate code to add the offer. He needs to contact their marketing department. He'll give me a call Tues, I say no thinks, if I have a problem, I'll call you guys. Mention other offers I have in the mail for TV and internet and nothing of a retention offer... Well I think it's time that Comcast and I part our ways...

Wow I got a great rep. I called him he said there's no special offer so I tell him the URL from here, he immediately tells me its a 3rd party seller (the Buyflow part denotes that) so that's why there's the special deal and so he can't give me that deal. So instead I just fill it out on the website, it does an online chat thing the online chat person activates it and you're done in less than 20 minutes.

hm the only things listed under internet for me are:

High-Speed Internet

With Comcast High-Speed Internet you get up to 7 e-mail accounts, Web space to create a home page or store files online and Comcast.net connects you to whatever suits your interest. Plus you can check e-mail from any computer! It's fast and it's cable-powered so there's no dialing up and no waiting.

High-Speed Internet Monthly Price

High-Speed Internet for Non-Comcast Cable Customers $56.99

High-Speed Internet for Current Comcast Cable Customers $42.95

Maybe I will have to call them since the system couldn't find an exact match so I had to shop by zip / city.

It seems 5 mb is fast enough though.

After 3 phone calls with Sales reps.... upgrading online and talking to a live support guy...AND calling them back because the online guy screwed up the order, I finally have 8MB service...

Now the only problem is that NONE of them have a clue about the Game Invasion part of it and how to sign me up for the IGN Founder Club even though thats the package i picked online..

Anyone have a clue on this? Is it a different username than my comcast account or what?

Im trying hard to get Verizon FIOS, to bad it will take some times in College Park, MD
Should move back with my parents in VA, they got it! 20mbit down for around $60 a mo as a promo!

EDIT: btw I called Comcast a few months back and asked how much more is it to upgrade my current basic Inet plan (6mbit to 8mbit), they said it was $5 extra coz it was a promo, I do not know if they still have this going or not. this was not to long ago either, 2-3 months ago

This is quite hot! It appears to be available to me, however I signed up for Comcast back in July via Best Buy for $19.99/month for first 6 months (plus free modem / install kit after rebate, free $75 BB gift card, and free $20 online photo lab gift card). So... I think I might have to wait until next month when my bill changes to the normal $42.95/month for 6mbps down / 384kbps upload. Then I'll hit them up for the upgrade to 8mbit/768kbit.

Here is the fine print of the offer:

Receive first 3 months of Comcast High-Speed Internet 8 Mbps service for $42.95/month after service activation. Offer only available in Comcast Cable wired and serviceable areas. Offer limited to Comcast Cable video residential customers who currently subscribe to a lower speed tier of Comcast High-Speed service. Other promotional rates apply to non-Comcast cable video subscribers. AFTER THE PROMOTIONAL PERIOD, COMCAST'S REGULAR SERVICE AND EQUIPMENT CHARGES APPLY UNLESS SERVICE IS CANCELLED. Cable modem and other equipment required and, unless specifically stated in the offer, require an additional fee. Installation options and prices vary by area. Prices shown do not include applicable taxes and fees. Compatible cable modem required to receive stated speeds. Up to 8Mbps references for downloads only (maximum upload speed of 768Kbps with Comcast 8Mbps speed tier). Many factors affect download speed and actual speeds will vary. Service is subject to terms and conditions of Comcast Online Subscriber Agreement. Pricing and content may change. IGN Founders' Club product supplied by and subject to terms of IGN Entertainment, Inc. Comcast and its subsidiaries are not responsible for any products and services of other participating companies. Please call Comcast for restrictions, service, equipment and pricing details. Offer subject to change without notice.
