It’s definitely primarily a Republican problem, as after all we have about 48 or so democratic senators for it so if we could get even two republicans to support it such a bill will pass. Republicans uniformly oppose this though so we can’t.This is a trigger point for me. Insulin is $300/bottle making it one of the most expensive liquids in the world. Theres NO reason for it! I can can go to almost any country i.e. Canada, Mexico...and get it for $50/bottle. Who pays the most for prescriptions in the world? Thats right. The USA. Here in AZ I like Sinema, but her marriage to the pharma industry infuriates me. I dont understand how we cant get this fixed. It started with Obamacare, which mostly benefitted the healthcare industry, and has progressively gotten worse. This isnt a D or R problem, its a people problem.

That being said you’re right it isn’t UNIFORMLY a Republican problem and it’s pure corruption. The idea that the government is actively prohibiting itself from trying to get good value for taxpayer dollars is absolute stupidity.
