I just got a CodeGen case from MWave the other day - IMHO, the cheap cases are just that, cheap. The CodeGen feels flimsy and the steel is very thin. I think that in terms of cases you get what you pay for, I know that we all want a sweet deal but it's like saving money by cutting corners on electrical work in your house. You might come home to a smoking pile of ashes...

which one is a codegen? the $35 case or the $29 case? i'm just looking for a case to house my mobo & psu... not looking for anything fancy, sincei do not plan on popping it open very often (unlike my own primary rig... that thing is always open )

got it. case is ok. edges aren't folded in, but not that sharp either. 1/2 the plastic clips holding the front panel to the case were broken. but nothing a little crazy glue didnt fix.

400w ps, front usb ports on bottom of case plus the connectors. also glad i ordered the fan cause it didnt come w/one (except the one on the ps). $37 shipped aint bad. now i gotta order my mobo/chip to actually see if this case works.

now do i mount the fan blowing the air into the case, or the other way around?

Edit: i bought the $29 400W case (w/$5 front usb and $3 fan = $37), and not the $35 Comet case that's the title of this thread.

Absolute great case!!!! its Grey not blue its got 4hd bays.. 2 floppy 4 cdrom..... room for 2 80mm fans on the front. (infront of the HD's so u can have fans and HDS! 2 in the back!! and a Pre Modded door with a 80 MM fan with finger guard on it!!! absolute AWSOME VALUE Pentium4 Certified.

Just got my case today- as someone else mentioned, it's more of a champagne silver color as opposed to the blue that i was hoping for. This case is actually pretty nice- the fan on the side is an Evercool, and the power supply is a super-quiet TigerPro. I'm gonna try running my p4 system with this PSU, and I'm hoping that it holds up, cuz the 400w psu i already have is really loud. I posted some pics for those of you who want some more detail: Comet 300W ATX Case

(Note: that's a Newq Platinum Audio Enhancer I have in my 5.25" bay and i'm thinkin about respraying the bezels on my optical drives- that's why I haven't put them in the case yet)

I'm trying to build a cheap K7S5A system with a XP1500, and if the PSU is ok, then one of these would be ideal...

LOL, no those are not usb ports - the middle hole in the right column is the power led and the one on the left is the hdd led the other holes are just there for decoration i guess

They use this case/power supply in thier 2100+ XP systems so, hopefully, it should power most systems just fine.

i just got the $29 case today. it's not bad. i mean... yes it's cheap quality... but i think for the $$$ it is good. it implements a metal plate over where the pci cards are supposed to be screwed in... but with the metal plate, there is no need to screw in each individual screw. it's hard to explain, but i like it. it is similar to what dell does to their new small form factor optiplex's also, the 400w psu is holding up fine on my 800mhz athlon/256pc2100/32x lite-on/12x dvd/13gb good buy...

For those of you who have received the $25(300w)/$29(400w) case, can you comment on the looks of it? The picture on the website is tiny and I can't get any real idea of how it looks. If someone could post some pics of it somewhere I'd be extremely grateful

it's not that bad looking. i do not exactly love the blue part on the bottom of the case, but hey, for $29, i am not complaining. actually, it's great for the price bigger pic

Thanks for your timely response spanky! One more thing... can you give any details on the power supply included with this unit? Do you happen to have the Combined Power Output on 3.3v & 5v, and amp output on diff voltages?

While I'm thinking about it, anyone know those same specs for the Tigerpro power supply included with the Comet 300w case ($35)? I can ALMOST read them in one of the pics that Elitebull posted of the case but can't quite make it out. Thanks!

I was waiting for the COMPGEEKS 34.95 case to come back in stock I bought one and have been really impressed with it.... But the 35.00 case looks intriguing.

How is the additional usb implemented? FRONT or Back?

I am putting an XP cpu in here should I try and get by on the 300 w supply or just suck it up and spring for the 400watt?

Combined output is 160 on both the $35.00 cases that I bought from them.

Those of you who got this case, do you think it to be very flimsy also? How flimsy is it say compared the the EVERCASE (another thread)?

Also since I grew up learning inches not metric, does anyone have the dimensions of this case in US measurements?

NICKel, by the $34.95 case at Compgeeks, are you referring to the one that looks like THIS that they have at Directron for $29.99 plus shipping?

Yes bagger, that is the one. Directron is a bit cheaper, but their shipping is on the high side 18.00 if I remember. Whereas I can ge the same one from Compgeeks for about 37.50 shipped ground (with 10% off).

But of course it is in stock.....

NICKel, were you running an AMD based system in that Powmax case from Compgeeks? Reason I ask is the big warning they put at the bottom of that description saying they do NOT recommend it for Athlon systems due to low power output.

It's a long story, but yeah ........ THe first few weeks there was no warning ...... so far so good .. I am sorta commited at this point..... Hopefully if it ever goes all I will hafta change is the power supply --- It was for my grandpa so he could finally flight FS 2002 with all the details turned up.
