I think these Comet cases are very nice for the price! I used this case for a build..the guy loved it and asked me for another one for his son....and he specified that he wanted the same case!!

OK, I just tried to put together a system with this case and an ECS K7S5A+Duron1ghz. I hit the power button, and nothing happens. The fans come on, the dvd light keeps turning on and off. I suspect its the board, but I do know the boards are picky with power supplies. Has anyone else had any problems with this combination? Thanx
BTW: This case is nice. The metal on it is folded to not get cut, EXCEPT those metal things on the front that you punch out to put in a cd drive. That sliced my finger real nice.

First, make sure you've connected the front panel wires correctly to the mobo. The K7S5A requires the power wires to be adjacent to each other. From OCworkbench.com k7s5a FAQ:

How do I connect the Power LED?
If you're reading this question, is because you realized that your case has a 3 pin LED connector and the K7S5A has a 2 pin header. This is a common occurrence, since case manufacturers around the world, use different connectors. There's two easy ways of getting around this problem. One is to use some scissors and cut the LED connector in half, since only the end sides have cables connected to them. Just connect each part to one of the board pins. The other thing you can do is use a needle and push out one of the cables from inside the plastic hole**. You'll see that the fine cable ends in a metal pin, just stick the metal pin into the middle hole of the connector. After that you can hook it up to the board, leaving a little bit of plastic sticking to the side.

** I tried this and it didn't work. I used the needle to lift the retaining plastic tab. I then pulled the wire out effortlessly.

K7S5A sure is picky about power supplys. I've built four, three had problems with generic 250-300 watt power supplys. They'd start up just fine, but crash a lot. I finally gave up and used hefty Enermaxes. No problems since.

The picture is a bit deceptive. Is the "light" color on the case a off-white/beige or is it silver/gray?

I just ordered one of each, the $32 and the $26.
I'll be anxious to see how good these are, but for $63 total, insured, how can you go too wrong?

Got mine today (about 1 week after order). Mine came with blue trim on the faceplate & the optional USB ports on front. They're located on the lower right side of the faceplate so they aren't noticeable at all. Came with the front USB wires, headphone & mic jacks as well. I didn't notice any exceptionally sharp edges so far & all the drives & fans fit nicely. I'll be installing a KS75A w/ 1.1 Thunderbird later this week (just waiting for the heatsink). So far it looks good--much nicer than the last case I got for the price. I think I'll get 2 thumb screws for the left side for easy access & it''ll be all set. My Sister (it'll be her new rig for college) likes the Art Deco look of the thing to boot. For $40 shipped I'm pleased.

Pick up a better PSU... the TigerPro's combined 3.3/5 is too low to satisfy power hungry MB's like the K7S5A.

Mine was unstable until I swapped out the PSU with a Antec and it runs perfectly stable now.

Do you think that a Dynapower power supply out of a In-win case would have enough power for a K7S5A?. Its specs:

3.3v - 20a
5v - 30a
12v -15a

Can you post your system specs including the manufacturer for each? I plan on using the TigerPro PS with a K7S5A. The system will not have a lot of power-hungry peripherals.

It all depends on what components you are running, you might be able to get away with, I don't remember the exact specs, but the combined 3.3v/5v was pretty low. My system only ran stable on the bare essestials. The second I bumped up to a better graphics card it went all down hill from there. I would seriously spend the extra and at least get a decent 350.

XP 1600+
384 PC133
Maxtor 60gig 7200RPM
Maxtor 80gig 5400RPM
ATI Radeon 8500
LIteon 48x CDRW
Hercules Gaming Theater 6.1 XP

anything less then the Antec 350 and the system would crash.

Interesting note at bottom of description:

"Attention: Case color is not guaranteed!"

Even so it looks like a hot deal.
I scanned thru thread and didn't see this mentioned, so hope it isn't a repeat.
