2) how loud is the case for other people? i'm using the stock side fan, antec psu, and gc68 for cpu and whole system sounds pretty loud. i wonder if it's louder than usual cuz of the side fan and little vent holes.

I think we better get on the bat phone and call Captain Obvious to answer this one.

More fans=more noise

That is the speaker.

When this was first posted I order a comet case with fan and asked for a blue one. I got it two days later as i only live 15 mins from this place. Then I ordered last week on Tuesday and asked for a brown case wit fan and have yet to receive it? I'm not very happy about this second order!

Ok I have rearranged my fans. I now have 1 intake on the front and an outake on the back, under the PSU. The stock fan on the side is still an intake blowing air on the PSU. Temps are not much different, maybe a degree or two higher (compared to 2 rear intake fans).

The front intake doesn't seem to take in much air. When I place my hand in front of the case I can't really feel the air being blown in. There seems like alot of blockage from the front plate. Same goes for the rear ourtake. I place my hand and the hot air is not blowing out that much, but the PSU fan - THAT is blowing out A LOT of hot air. I would estimate the PSU fan to be about 10 times more powerful than the 80mm Suons I have. (edit, by the way using my Antec 300 W not the Tigerpro).

Overall temps are still solid < 50C on the CPU. But with all the fans and the ventalation the case is quite loud.

I finally got me second case after I went there to pick it up? This place is a real joke and I don't know how they make money? It is a complete mess and the guy, who was the owner, was the meanest guy in the world. He first claimed that UPS lost the package which was paid for on 9-12-02, then he couldn't even look up to see if they ever even shipped it? I think they do everything by hand because he would not go and look up my name, address, etc to see if it was shipped.

When I ordered on the phone the CSR was pretty nice and I explained how I ordered previously and asked for a blue case and thats what I got. This time I asked for a brown/beige case and teh mean owner guy goes in the back and pulls the first case off thi shuge skid of cases. He brings it up front and tells me to get out of there. I tell him I had more stuff in my order and he goes in the back to dig that stuff up, which was only a heatsink. Then I ask him if it is a brown case and he says he doesn't sell by the color. I explain what I was told on the phone and he gets more pissed off. He rips the box open and sees that its blue and tries to convince me that that is the only color they have.

He finally goes in the back and start looking for another case. He opened two more boxes and got blues and came back and said that was all he could do? I was already late for work so I take the blue case in hopes of finding someone on here who wants to trade blue for beige? He did accidentaly give me the USB case but I could really care less.

The best part was when a few other workers came out he started talkiing in some foreign language and I know they were just bitcing about me. I will most likely try to find this case somewhere else and pay more just to advoid ordering from these people. They are mean and unkind to paying customers when it is entirely their fault.

I would really like to know where I can order these cases from directly becuase I would happily start reselling them. Fromthe quick glance that I took in the back room they had tons of these cases all piles up on several different skids. I would say there were at least a few hundred. Anyone know anything on importing these guys?

i went with the LCT400 with USB option for $30. Case is total different from picture. Beware the color of the USB wire may be wrong (the paper come with the box has picture of USB connection)

usually it is red, white, green, black. for 5V, -D, +D, ground.
but the USB wire has red, green, white and then another black and paper said 5v, +D, -D, ground.... i will double check the relation with the USB head on the case front with the connector to the board when i set up the connection.

Just a reminder.

Nice case, lousy power supply. I get interference from the power supply whenever I turn on and turn off the computer, which makes my DIRECTV DSL lose it's connection. I think it's interfering with the dsl modem. I've had no other power supplies, expensive or cheap do this! I've sold these cases to other people who have dsl. Doesn't seem to affect pacbell or verizon dsl modems.

I think your drawing some spurious conclusions, but that's just my opinion... I could be wrong.

Well, I've had this case for a while now and I'm hoping someone can help me with the fans. I've got the thing maxed out: 2 in the front, 2 in the back and 1 on the side. Well, I just swapped out my SK6 with Delta Screamer for an SLK-800 with a quieter fan hoping to quiet things down a bit and it's still pretty loud. Should I just take out some of the other fans? Is it really necessary to have two in the back or would one do? Also, the two in the front seem to do very little because they are blocked by the HDs AND the vent is too small. Should I remove those too or is there a better way to increase their output? Honestly, it just doesn't seem like I have 5 fans worth of production....

Post this in the Cases & cooling forum.

They should be able to assist you better than a 5 month old HD thread.

How about I post it where the sun don't shine so you can kiss it? We've been helping each other with this case for weeks. K. Thanks!

BTW, the case is $32 now. Still a great deal!

Haha, I have a similar problem. My comp is LOUD.

I orginally had 1 fan in the front, one in the back and one on the side. Since then I have removed ALL of the fans from the case, because it is so loud. My temps are only higher by about 1 degree or so. Needless to say, the fans were not doing much.

Sadly, my case is still loud with only the CPU fan and the PSU. I'm pretty sure it's my screaming 60mm CPU fan that's causing all the trouble. I have been delaying my intention to get a thermaltake hs and a new 80mm fan.

And yes, fans in the front are pointless. With the vent there they hardly do anything at all.

It's down to $32 shipped for the comet case and $24 shipped for the LCT 300watt case. I ordered the 300watt LCT case for $24 shipped a few weeks back and got a 400 watt power supply. Only problem is the power supply is flaky. System will only stay powered up for 10-20 minutes then either shut off or restart. (I swapped power supplies and it did the same thing in another system). I sent an RMA request email, let's see how they handle it.

I just bought a 300 Watt case for an AMD1700 & Biostar MB, sond, land and video chip. Only planning to have a CDRom, running with it. For now will be using Win 98SE. Will I be calling it too close with the power supply? It's for my elderly mother and I was trying not to tax her electric bill.

Did I maka a mistake?:frown:

My 2 Comet cases do well with K7S5A's. And my KT400 board. No flaky issues here. Totally loaded too, fans, 2 hdds, dvd + cdrw, radeon 8500 axp so its drawing plenty of power. Hasn't failed me yet.

I have the same problem with the loudness of the case. After playing around with a few other cases, I've concluded that the noise issue has more to do with the construction of the case, and less to do with the fan. The PSU's fan is nearly silent if you take it out and put it on a level desk or something. The only noise I hear is the noise of the airflow. If you install and remove the TigerPro PSU, you will realize that the area of the case where the PSU goes into, has a support extension, but the extension don't level with the PSU--only one end actually touches the PSU. I have an upgraded stock fan from AMD, which has copper contact, the fan again is very quiet.

The noise one notices with the Comet case is the rattle sound from the "not fully supported" PSU, and acoustic amplification of the case construction. I've installed the same MB, same stock AMD fan, and same TigerPro PSU in a different case, and the result was near silent. The Evergreen? 80mm fan that came with the case also produce significant noise and rattle and vibration.

PS: Has anyone notice how crappy the power button is? It's SO big, that it gets stuck sometimes, but when you try to loosen it up, you might actually trigger a brief contact, causes the MB to see it as a shutdown...

Wait.

So that LOUD rattling sound is comming from my PSU!? I ended up replacing my DVD-ROM drive because I thought that was causing the problems. After putting some pressure over the drive, the rattling would stop. Of course, I have replaced the drive and now the case still rattles, on occassion.

SO IT'S THE CASE!? :|

Time for a new one.
