For the past...Ooh, 9 years? I've been using my father's old Nisis K7 keyboard. It's got a great wee rest, and it has two feet at the back to give it an upward slant. But it's ancient, can only have 4 keys pressed at once, the volume buttons keep getting wedged inside the casing, and the plastic is feeling a tad sticky.

Time for a new keyboard. But by golly are there a bunch of ugly things out there. Wavy keys that are slanted upwards in the middle of the keyboard, mechanical keyboards that look like they came from a poundstore, that sorta thing. What's a nice keyboard for, say, extensive use over 6-8 hours a day?

Also looking for a new mouse. The one I've got at the moment is the Gigabyte GM-M6800. It's a pretty damn nice mouse, or was. The glue holding the grips and rubber feet wore off about half a year ago, whatever coating the plastic had has been worn off by repeated cleaning (builds up skin gunk on the left/right mouse keys), and the rubber mouse wheel sure loves to get icky.

It's a good size, with it fitting pretty nicely with my palm and fingers. Doesn't have any square jaggedy bits, so it doesn't dig into my hand. Any good mice out there?

Not looking to splurge, so let's say... 20 quid tops for the mouse, and 30 quid for the keyboard. Mouse ought to have at least two extra side buttons, and the keyboard a full numpad and volume buttons.

Comfortable's in the eye(or hand) of the beholder. My favorite keyboard is still the model M. I got the Azio, and repkrted in the stickied thread. It's comforable also, but I still have some issues fat fingering keys. I like the way it looks/feels, so I overlook that shortcoming. A mouse is a mouse afaic, if it isn't for gaming anyway. Same thing though. Put your hand on some, and see what you like. What I like probably won't be the same.

Yeah I have the AZIO Retro keyboard in the sticky thread, and it is comfortable to type on. Do you have a preference for certain kind of switches? The AZIO uses Kailh Blue switches which are a clone of Cherry MX Blue. And by the way, what is 30 quid?

I have no idea about switches. I've only ever used membrane keyboards, but mechanicals do seem to have fallen greatly in price. They look like cheap school Dell keyboards though, can't be fab for the wrists.

I would have to say type on a few to check them out first. I do have to say after using a mechanical keyboard for four years I would not willing go back to a membrane or rubber dome. Especially a cheap one.

given the
a poundstore
i'' guess that you are in the UK. under 30 quid for the kb, shipped.

the M6800 is large, comfy, and has also the worst sensor i have ever tried. my guess is that you are not "a gamer", and if so, you will not find a mouse more comfortable than the 6800. if you do want to game, well, depending on how and what you game, i can make a recommendation .. but it will probably be a logitech.

I actually have the M6800. Great mouse, but the plastic has worn down on the mouse buttons, and the rubber grip & mousewheel get super glogged up with hand scum right quick. Decided to get the next model up, the M6880X. The rubber grips look much easier to clean, but the scroll button's kinda wank. And the plastic shroud has got this weird powdery feel to it.

I only play a few games, but I play them hard. Fallout New Vegas, Skyrim, Age Of Empires 2 HD, and atm Conan Exiles.

you are fine with that mouse. it wouldn't work for .. ermm, how should i put this .. "esports". like Unreal, Quake, Counterstrike ..

i used the 6800 myself for office work, because i wanted a large mouse that i could rest my hand on, and it's great for that. but the sensor has shocking negative acceleration and would not suit a fastpaced FPS or anything with low sens and wide, fast mouse movements.
