When you see "minimum 2GHz" that means "Pentium IV 2.0GHz or higher". A Core 2 @ 1.86GHz will be equivelant in gaming performance to a 3.2-3.4Ghz Pentium IV. You'll be fine.

yup, your core duo will fly at this game, infact if its a core duo and not a core 2 duo it might be a little faster than a C2D (arent the C2D's just a little longer?)

either way thats enough CPU for that game

what you should really be focusing on is GPU.

now on the downstairs computer here, 2.5Ghz A64, Ati X800GTO, 1 gig of ram, it runs smooth as butter, full details, x8 AF at 1280x1024

on my computer, 2.4ghz Pentium 4 (Northwood) 768Mb PC800 RDRAM, ATi 9500pro (my trusty steed, 8 pipes, 370mhz core, 128mb 128bit GDDR 303Mhz) i have to pretty much use lowest possible at 1024x768, and even then a nuke exploding (playing as NOD on demo) the FPS goes into single digits.

a good GPU is paramount

The IGN review seems to confirm that while the game is very good, there are definitely balance issues. GDI seems to be way too powerful in the late game, a la Mammoth Tanks. They also say EA is working on a balancing patch that will be out soon.

No sh1t there are balance issues. That should have been mind-boggingly obvious for the testers from day 1. There were testers right? Oh yeah, it's EA :thumbsdown:

I too agree the mammoth tank is too powerful. On one of the campaign demos, I took a top ranked mammoth tank (the ones with the stars) and pretty much wiped out the enemy?s entire base. :shocked:

You should never be able to do that much damage with just one tank.

you probably have to wait until they get into the office and set it up, lol

or you should have pre-ordered so you could pre-download it or whatever they call it.

I thought the unit selection sucked in the Demo to be honest. Every units speed seem to be crippled, or the weapons were either too weak or too powerful. It took an hour for a APC to transfer troops. The APC is a sitting target. The Quad cannon thing with legs takes 'forever' to take aim. The flame tank does more harm than good half the time when it blows up your troops. It's a anti troop supporting tank yet all it can support is itself because you can't have anything near it.

The scorpion tank is fast but it looks like a tic on the screen just waiting to be squashed. The need something before the mammoth and something before NODs cyborg thing.

have you ever played a C&C game before? the flame tank has always been like that.

Well this game definitely runs good. It looks like they actually took time to optimize it decently, unlike *cough* STALKER. I have it installed and on max detail with a lowly single core amd cpu, 1gb of memory and 7900gt, it runs great. So you guys dont have anything to worry about.

Great game too man. They got alot of professional actors in this. They have actors from all over. They have that doctor chick from the TV show "House". They have the silon model #6 (the Asian chick) from TV show Battlestar Galactica. They have the bad guy from Total Recall. Who knows who else, only just started it.


Looks like a great game. Balance issues I am sure are there, but will probably be fixed in due time. I am amazed how well it runs with max detail on a single core cpu. Great sound also.

I'm getting the game ASAP, however the demo plays fabulous. Here's a screenshot on my new 46" Sharp Aquos. The graphics, the gameplay and the whole scenario/movies are all top notch. Gamespot gave this game a 9.0 overall, a definate must buy.

Heres a quick pic of Command and Conquer 3 on my set. I can't even believe how good this game looks at 1920x1080.

EA Link still sucks. Whats the point of 'Pre-load' if you can't actually DL anything until the day off release AND have to manually click the download button? I was hoping to play as soon as I got home from work today, but EA Link just sat in the background, waiting for me to get home and unfvck it.

I bought supreme Commander and i think i made a mistake. Is this game better? I liked red alert but didn't care much for C&C generals.
