Heres a quick pic of Command and Conquer 3 on my set. I can't even believe how good this game looks at 1920x1080.

I didn't care for Generals either but played the hell out of every other C&C RTS. C&C3 returns to the gameplay familar to the other C&C games, not Generals.

I think you could at least check out the demo. Supreme Commander plays a lot different; they are different styles of RTS games.

I've been waiting for this one after playing the excellent demo.

I thought that Walmart wouldn't have it until the 28th. Someone at school told me today he was pumped to get it and said Walmart here had it at noon today. So I checked tonight and not a single copy or tag where it would've been on the rack. I'm thinking it'll be tomorrow, if the copies they get aren't reserved for the preorder DVDs.

The balance issues for the 1.1 patch are only two things for Scrin. The patch doesn't look like anything I'd like to have seen changed, but they say 1.2 is slated for April and should have new maps and lots of other stuff.

1GB left to DL now, bout 25 minutes remaining. Still irks me that EA Link didn't begin automatic downloading earlier, but oh well. I may still get the chance to play the first mission or so before bed time.

So for those who bought the game... how do you like your in-game ads that you paid money for?

I've got my copy today. Been playing it for 6 hours straight.

There's a lot of improvement over generals in terms of the old Westwood feel. Seems like EA actually listened to their customers. Fast load times, extensive battle campaign map, acting and script, controls. Tougher AI which comes in waves and not bursts. Not to mention it's easy to mod.

There is some balancing issues with the units. Nothing a patch or a simple mod can't fix. Instead of having the mammoth tank, maybe some upgrades on the scorpion or even add another medium sized tank into the mix.

Though I do have to say the game was longer than I expected which is good. Each mission felt different and unique.. I must of played for 6 hours straight and I'm still trying to complete GDI.

Let alone NOD, skirmishes, and multiplayer, there is a lot of replay value in this game.

I thought as a whole the game was a pleasant surprise.

And no I did not see any in-game ad's.

I didn't see any ads in the game either.

I had some difficulty transition from SupCom back to this type of game, the maps feel so small, I miss being able to que buildings, no ultra zoom out. I think I've been spoiled.

The game runs great, played for 6 hours with no hiccups at max settings, some balancing issues for sure, the first patch seemed to be focused on nerfing the alien race, can't remember their name ATM.. Haven't tried playing them yet.

I was really looking forward to the campy cutscenes but I was actually a little underwhelmed, the voice acting was generally good, I was just expecting a little more cheese.

The best part so far has been seeing Billy D! Lando FTW.

Fry's was on my way home from class today and I decided to NOT buy this game. I get too addicted to competitive multiplayer.

Likely under options or at the main menu.

Got it today! Played the first 3 GDI missions; loving it more than any other C&C right now.

Its amazing how well it runs even on max quality settings on a lowly single core, 1gb mem system.

NM I answerd my own question. Here is the official statement for the unofficial patch for Windows 2000 users. Ill just paste it in case anyone is as ancient as me using a windows 2000 rig.

For the people using Windows 2000, I've created an unofficial patch which fixes the Windows 2000 incompatibilities in Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars. This patch works with CNC3 versions 1.0 and 1.1, and should allow you to play CNC3 if you receive any of the following errors:

- The procedure entry point GetVolumePathNamesForVolumeNameW could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll
- ***FATAL*** String Manager failed to initialized properly
- The dynamic link library gdiplus.dll could not be found in the specified path

You can download the patch here: http://www.voidshard.net/Xenkan/CNC3Patch/

If you want to be completely up to date, I recommend the following steps:

1) Install CNC3 v1.0 from DVD
2) Install Xenkan patch
3) Run Command & Conquer 3
4) Choose Multiplayer -> Online
5) CNC3 will install v1.1 patch
6) Install Xenkan patch again

Please reply and let me know if this patch works for you. If any EA folks are interested in how this patch works, or possibly integrating these fixes into a future official patch, feel free to contact me. I'll do what I can to help!

I've also made a patch that allows you to play the C&C3 demo on Windows 2000 if you want to make sure the full game will run on your computer before buying it: http://www.voidshard. net/Xenkan/CNC3DemoPatch/

Cant slow the game down in single player and no apparent way to turn off the extremely overpowered and easy to build super weapons in skirmish are BIG sour points for me.

Yeah well, my base got annihilated in 1 shot. And unlike supcom, there is no counter measure I can build to defend against it. Id call that overpowered. Why even build an attack force? Just defend, scout and nuke.

Yeah they definitely have some issues to fix with gameplay. I think they need to make the build speed slower too. You can mass a huge friggin army in like 2 seconds. I think some of the bombs do way too much damage to base buildings as well. Im sure we will see a slew of patches in the next few months

I just got to the Cairo mission, after smashing the ports in Alexandria, which was the mammoth tank mission in the demo.

You can amass an army of infantry really quickly, but tanks and aircraft take time. Tanks and aircraft crush infantry with incredible ease. I would like to see the 1.2 patch add a way to turn off the super weapons in skirmish though.

That's way harder than it sounds unless you're playing an easy computer. You would get rushed by any normal player long before you could turtle yourself to a superweapon especially after it's been announced that you have one. And at any rate, any player that sat back and allowed the enemy to get a superweapon (and let it go through the timer) had it coming.

That's one thing about the game that I don't like too much: too powerful of superweapons and the much faster pace of gameplay. As far as the superweapons, they are no where near as powerful in ealier games. They were strong back then but not too strong. I mean a nuke could take out one structure, or a couple if you knew where to aim it. Now it takes out a huge chunk of your base.

I tend to be a turtle-style player so maybe that's why it's harder for me. But I've always played that way and never had a problem in earlier games... I was quite good in multiplayer. Guess I'll just have to adopt. They do need the option to turn off superweapons though, definitely.
