-It (demo and retail) slows down noticeably for me during larger skirmish games, or basically whenever I amass a large number of mammoth tanks and bases. This is the rig in my sig (Opteron 146 @ 2.5ghz, 2GB, 7800gt) running 1680x1050, mostly high details except for mid on stuff like shadows and water, and I can't remember AA exactly but I believe it is the first step 'ON', so probably 2x. I could probably just turn it off to get a few more fps. Still, a very smooth game and quite polished for a EA developed product.
-The FMV cut-scenes seem to look REALLY good. Even x264 encodes or DVD playback looks much more pixelated on my display than those FMV sequences! It just seemed very crisp for the first couple GDI missions I've done so far. For a 5.6GB total installation, that is not too bad as the box says over 90 minutes of footage (though after checking the directory, it looks like movies takes 3.5GB of that!).
-I'd like to see some additions and balance changes with patches. The two patches so far haven't done anything affecting me from what I could tell. I just don't see infantry having much use except in singleplayer missions where you don't have the tech for the better tanks yet. I mean stuff like snipers and commandos are cool, but up against a tank?? For the money you spend on them it just isn't worth it when you can build a tank for 2x more but kill 20x as much of those infantry units. I was kinda thinking that since the commando has jumpjets and C4 for structures AND walkers in this one, that it would be cool if it could C4 vehicles? Why not? They don't get much use in MP. I only remember a handful of games of all C&C games I've played where I used commandos or special infantry units in a MP game.
- I've only played against AI Nod and Scrin, but it just doesn't seem like they have the tanks to compete with GDI mammoth, and even predator. The mammoth and predator are better as it is, but the extremely cheap $3000 railgun upgrade makes them much better. They should either lower the GDI tank firepower or increase Nod and/or Scrin units to deal enough to compete with them. As is, seems like Nod can only use "guerilla" tactics (taking out harvesters or rushing, with stealth helping some in this) else they are completely toast after 15 minutes since the tech and overall game speed is VERY fast.
- It doesn't seem like the two GDI aircraft are worth it, or even aircraft in general (except maybe a few Kirovs in RA2 that fly across unnoticed till they take out 75% of your base), but this is the same I've experienced for every C&C game pretty much.
- And finally, let me turn off the superweapons as an option for skirmish or MP games, eh? It was an option before! Though it did come to my attention that all players' superweapon structure is shown on the map and can be jumped to.
