Comment on my upgrade plans

I plan on updating my daughters computer. She now has a Celeron 466, 16 MB TNT card and a 3.2 MB hard drive.
I plan on using an Epox 8RGA+($99),Athlon XP 2000+($67) PNY 2100 DDR(free after rebate), Maxtor 30 GB 7200 rpm hard drive ($35 after rebate) , the rest of the parts will come from her old computer. I figure that when the 3200 DDR is free after rebate and the Athlon XP 3200+ is $67 we can upgrade again. In the meantime this should be a good upgrade for her as she is not into heavy gaming. Please comment. Thank you

What does she use the system for? If you are not overclocking, there are certainly cheaper motherbaords you could consider. Also, the 2200+ CPU is not much more expensive. Make sure that all of her old peripherals will be supported by the new setup, ie no ISA and whatnot.

She uses a computer for general stuff, such as Web surfing, E-mail, simple games, burning CDs and some light-duty Photoshop work. I chose that motherboard because of the integrated video and other integrated features to save money now but she can still add a topline video card and other components later if she needs them. I also read that this board will support 400 MHz front side bus processors with a later bios, so she should have quite a bit of upgrade room if she needs it in the future. All her other peripherals should work with the exception of the ISA card for scanner.
I think it will be cheaper to buy a new scanner than to try to find a PCI SCSI card to replace the old one.

Make sure you get a decent powersupply for this system or you might see everything go up in smoke.

Just a bump for this evening. I already have the harddrive and memory. I'm waiting for more comments that
may change my mind on the board and CPU. I want to order them tomorrow so I'll be sure to have them by this next weekend.
