Well once the next ge games come round with their latest graphical effects and particularly HDR, no doub tat that point you'll benefit from SLI given you have the screen the support high resolutions.

Of course, at that point *maybe* cards will start needing 512MB memory for the best game performance.

I'd say it isnt letting it run at it's max (read: insane) framerates, but, as long as you can play whatever you want to play and are happy with the framerates, it's moot point that your cpu is bottlenecking you.

?? No. SATA doesnt magically make his hard drive faster. That drive isnt even saturation its IDE 98% of the time. Why do people keep saying this?

The only bottleneck in your system is your hard drive. Get two to four of the smallest and fastest lil fscker hard drives you can get your hands on (RAID0 or 5) and slap your OS on it.

Contray to what people have said around here (6 months ago) RAID0 does loosten the bottleneck in a way nothing else can for your hard drive. %10-%50 improvement in drive wait.

Dont use raid 0 or 5, you seem to be financially comfortable with a setup like that so go for 4 raptors and run them on raid 10, raid 5 is slow for writing. Or if you are minted/lottery winner/bill gates love child get 15k SCSI drives

I don't know where you got your info, but its just wrong. Link some benchmarks to prove your point. The benches that I've seen with using 6800u for instance show a 1-3 FPS diff between a 3000+ at 1.8mhz and an FX55 at 2.6ghz. And where is this 6ghz CPU? And as the OP stated he's running his CPU at 2.7ghz how is this a bottleneck?

I have a buddy running an XP2800 s754 system @ 1.6mhz with a 6800GT, and his 3dmark scores PWN mine with a SD3700+ @ 2.8ghz and a 6600GT.

Not to be a d!ck... but how did your buddy manage to put an XP2800 onto a Socket 754 board any way? Also i thought the 2800+ ran at around 1.9 or 2.0 GHz not 1.6MHz... of course one would have to underclock it in order for it to run on the wrong motherboard

heh people like to use that term "BOTTLENECK". I mean when it comes right down to it everything is a bottleneck and you have not seen that yet because you didnt run anything that challenges your PC yet.

It is only a bottleneck if you think or know your computer is running your apps slow or games or whatever you do. When you feel you need and i mean NEED an upgrade, then get one. If it isnt a big deal to wait a a few seconds for photoshop to load or apply filters, then dont worry about it.

I will give you some advice. The only bottlenecks you should worry about are the ones on beer bottles.
