You're connecting "whoever" and "whomever" the same way as "who" and "whom". That is not the case. "Whoever" is and has been an acceptable word is almost every single relation (save the possessive), and particularly so as the object of a preposition as is the case in the quiz.

Both the quiz, and you, are wrong.

Yeah, it is pretty sad that you compare your writing to papers written by children.

I'm not comparing my writing to that of children. I'm comparing posts on an internet forum.

Perhaps if you had any basic comprehension skills ...

Whoa, Odin! More unintentional irony?

You're digging yourself a hole here, unneccessarily so.

Welcome to the internet.

If I was writing a thesis, I would pay a bit closer attention. Regardless, I bet my posts are written much better than most average posts. I would venture to guess that my posts are written better than the papers written by many children in school these days. That's the sad thing.

Ha, ha, yeah, man. I agree. The collective state of our English usage blows.

Your answer was so funny simply because of all the bragging you did immediately before committing six sharp errors in one short paragraph:

I could have majored in English easily.

I constantly find errors in newspapers and magazines, etc. I could have easily been an editor.

I may not be able to diagram complex sentences any longer, but common spelling and word usage is trivial.

And then, without segue, BOOM! It kind of defined irony!

But, yeah, I hear you, "Welcome to the internet." Lord knows my personal usage standards have gone down the tubes here as well. For some reason, it's affected my spelling most of all.

At least you're highly skilled in Photoshop, Odin, and generously share your expertise with others. There, I'm the equivalent of a drooling functional illiterate.

Well like I said, I'm not exactly writing a paper on here.

I'm certainly not perfect in the usage of the English language, but I am sadly far more qualified than the editors of many papers and magazines which I read.

Not picking on you, but it's "If I were writing a thesis...". I pointed this out only because they should have had this type of question on the exam. A lot of people seem to get that wrong.

You did so extremely well, even I can't find a word to describe your excellence! You have the uncommon intelligence necessary to understand things that most people don't. You have an extensive vocabulary, and you're not afraid to use it properly! Way to go!

That was fun. I'm kinda enjoying these little quizzes that have been popping up on ATOT in the last few days. I feel like I'm scoring points for the public school system! To be honest, in my four years of HS I had 3 of the greatest English teachers I could hope for - they were fantastic.

Honestly, I don't feel that an ATOT forum post is the appropriate place to judge one's grammatical ability. I know I don't put nearly as much thought into syntax when I'm typing up forum posts as I do when I'm actually writing something for academia. It's ok to relax and not worry about perfect grammar from time to time and not fear losing your ability to write.

You have an extremely good understanding of beginner, intermediate, and advanced level commonly confused English words, getting at least 75% of each of these three levels' questions correct. This is an exceptional score. Remember, these are commonly confused English words, which means most people don't use them properly. You got an extremely respectable score.
