I wish we had a science forum so that we could move away from the premise that climate change is somehow a political issue. Though it would probably turn into incoherent ramblings anyways.

But, how to react to it *is* a political issue. Though, denial, misinformation, etc., are pushed due to political ideologies. And, for a scientific discussion, perhaps highly technical would be appropriate.

I completely agree. Discussing the merits of policies involving CO2 emissions is an appropriate political discussion. But any time that happens it devolves into a climate change conspiracy circle jerk based on pseudoscience.

Then again, there doesn't seem to be many that can create scientific arguments using actual research papers.

For starters, the use of the term "climate change" to describe a particular specific "problem" is itself idiotic. Change cannot be stopped, nor is stopping change even desirable. If you're referring specifically to the negative impact on the environment caused by human activity, then yes, at its core it is a scientific discussion. What to do about that change, on the other hand, is very much a political discussion.

You were given an option to turn to the Highly Technical Forum for your discussions by no less that a mod here. You've stated a problem (a desire to talk about this issue in a non-partisan manner) and have been given a possible solution. But you've discounted that solution based on emotion. If you're as big on science as you lead us to believe, you should understand that you're not thinking rationally.

So, at this point we can conclude that you either wish to continue to argue the matter with politics involved or you don't truly desire to discuss it in a non-political manner. Which is it?

Do a forum search for conservatard.

It is the favorite word of the whiniest members who post in P&N.

i.e., " I do not like your facts or logical argument... you are a conservatard. And I am going to tell my dad on you."

Maybe if people understood what straw man arguments were and how to avoid them, the term wouldn't be used so frequently. Fucking Asshole.

All I can say is that if it weren't for all the partisan hacks in this forum continually moving the goal posts on a regular basis with their idiotic use of straw man arguments then the lefties wouldn't have anything to talk about and the righties would just go back to their gun forums that they came from with all the other fucking assholes.

You left out TROLL!

You're displaying a classic example of confirmation bias, i.e. noticing only the things which fit your preconceptions and failing to notice inconvenient information.

I did indeed run a search under "conservatard" and I even ran "conservitard" as an alternative spelling. Total of 9 pages of hits.

Now try running "libtard" like I did. 11 pages of total hits.

This confirmation bias is the same reason conservatives think the media is liberal biased. They only notice those elements which support what they already believe about the media, and they ignore or fail to notice anything inconsistent with the hypothesis of a liberal biased media. Just like you seem to only be aware of "conservatard" but apparently are unaware of the contra insult which is actually a little more prevalent.

People that don't love P&N don't deserve it. What we need to do is enforce a tariff system on Discussion Club regulars, charging them equitably for every post they make here. After all, the Discussion Club folks have no problem imposing arbitrary limits on our sub-forum exports, keeping their posts artificially more valuable than they actually are and preventing many of our posters from doing business within their markets. Some may say, "Oh, the average P&N poster is too lazy and doesn't work hard enough in creating arguments", but that's BULLSHIT. P&N has been around longer and we have seen changes that other places forum-wide have not. If we don't stop this now, there will be nothing left for our newbies, and for the newbies of internet generations to come.

A highly technical forum would be appropriate. Somehow you pulled bullshit out of my post that didnt exsist. Did my statement I completely agree confuse you?

Naw...I'm told the "real reason" most conservatives don't post there is that they're either "incapable" or not interested in "rational" debate. Now you know.
