Commuters, what kind of car do you drive?

For those of us who have longer than a 20 minute drive, what kind of car do you drive. An economy car to save money on the drive. A nice/luxury car because you might as well enjoy the drive. You don't care and just drive whatever the hell car you have.

About 30 miles each way at my current job. Commute is anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and a half.
Drive a Q50 most days. Sometimes I'll take the QX60 hybrid if the wife wants the sedan for whatever reason.

Man, it takes me 20 minutes just to get halfway to work... on a good day and I only work 30 miles from home.

I drive a Fit but the way I drive it, the mileage ain't all that great so the worst of all worlds I guess. Still beats the '86 Hilux.

My 2012 Ford Focus used to get me through 50Mi commutes (one way), comfy enough and got great MPG.

I have a Kia Forte, gets pretty good mileage for the 85 miles to work. At least it's almost all highway. Also have a '15 mustang gt, but only drive it one day a week or so, usually Friday, or Saturday if we work it.

I do envy my wife, she can walk to work if she wants.

It's kind of neat to realize that although I get 15-16 miles per gallon, I still go through less gas while commuting, thanks to 5 miles/5 minutes away.

Until a year ago I was driving 26-33 (depending on route I'd take) miles to work, averaging about 40 minutes whatever route. I drove, and still drive, a 2011 Honda Civic. I always thought Civics got great gas mileage but I'd get maybe a max of 32 MPG, usually more like 30-31 MPG. This was freeway driving, and I'd usually set the cruise at 78 MPH.

Now I live only a couple miles from work so I don't do as much freeway driving, and get usually 28-30 MPG.

2006 Acura TSX. I'll ride it till the wheels fall off. Has served me perfectly well for 5+ years since buying it used, why not another 5-10?

People that pay obscene amounts for vehicles that massively depreciate are fun to laugh at. Especially when they sit in the same traffic I do going the same speeds.

I live in the country and have about a 30 minute drive into work. I always preferred sporty cars that were fun to drive. Since I am not stuck in traffic but have a drive on country roads I can enjoy myself a little bit with a fun car.

I have a 20 mile commute that takes anywhere from 20 to 45 minutes. Had a nice car and just bought a really nice car with an upgraded stereo. Hey as long as I am going to be spending an hour or so in the car each day I might as well enjoy it.

08 boring automatic nonturbo Forester.

It's not a gas sipper
It's not a sporty car
It's not a nice car

But it's OK on gas, It's OK with handling and acceleration, and it's comfortable enough.
Gets me to/from the office safely no matter how much snow is dumping from the sky.

Also can tow a pair of snowmobiles on the highway without trouble, though I need a new trailer and new snowmobiles and a place to store em

Honda Civic. Great on gas, plenty of space, comfortable, enough power for passing and merging, invisible to police, park it anywhere, absolutely bulletproof reliability.

Another thing I like about them is that its dirt cheap to maintain\fix. Top of the line tires cost $75, I got a new odometer for $17 and an AC cooling fan for $19. Not that I really had to fix anything until it got over 210,000 miles

40 minute commute for me each way. I guess I fall into option 1 or maybe my own option would be "fun to drive without being hard on the wallet".

Current car is a 2017 Fiat 124 Spider. Getting 37 to 40 mpg highway. Takes premium gas, though.

Yeah, last tire change was under $250 for good tires and the last time I did a brake job pads for all four wheels cost something like $28 delivered.

Last week I had to Uber about 45 minutes away to pick up my mothers car and the girl had a Honda Fit. I was stunned at how freaking big that car is on the inside. Small car, but rear seat head space and leg room was like a limo.

I swore up and down that I'd never have a long commute (even on ATOT). But then a job came along with enough salary bump to make the long commute worth it.

My perfect answer doesn't fit into your poll. I really want enough luxury to make the long drive pleasant, but a fuel sipper since I'm cheap. Sadly, no car really fits that bill. Apparently some luxury features and fuel efficiency don't go together in the minds of automobile manufacturers.

I got as close as I could: a Camry XLE hybrid. I get 36 MPG at 79 MPH, about the same as my old Civic. But, it has comfortable, heated leather seats, a decent ride (far better on snow/ice than the Civic which is important to me when commuting at interstate speeds), and a good enough sound system. Not really luxury, but it isn't bottom of the barrel either and the fuel economy is certainly good enough.

Depends. I work in the same office as my mother in law and she has a hybrid fusion. Get's about 41 mpg and we have a 30 mile commute. This is straight driving and 99% no traffic. BUT, I try to avoid driving/riding with her as much as possible since she also lives with us, so I take my F150. I get 16.2 mpg when I drive. About the only good thing is that I have a 36 gallon tank, so I'm not filling up as often. Bad part is, it breaks the bank when I do have to fill that sucker up.

Infiniti G37S. It's a 2008 and I got it in 2012. I drive about 55 miles each day round trip with it. It's a gas guzzler but not too bad. I still really like the car though.

Honda Fit Sport, and I'd have gotten that even if I drove only 50 miles per week. Of course I'd rather have a 3rd gen instead of this 2ng gen but I paid half what I would have for a 3rd gen with ~40k miles, so I'm ok with it.
