Everytime I play a game, the game freezes after about 30 minutes, and I just keep on hearing a loop of teh same sound effects. For example, when i play rtcw, it freezes after 20 minutes and I keep on hearing the last noise that I played over and over again. I am using an ak35gtr, and I have tried both the c-media onboard sound, as well as a sound blaster pci 16 card. Same problem. It seems when I take my hardware acceleration slider for sound, and move it to standard support, it seems to fix the problem. However even then , sometimes it freezes. However i can't seem to get the slider to stay there past one reboot...and i'm pretty sure it's a sound problem. Must be software related...ran the same vid card and sound card in a previous rig, and they worked fine. Don't know what's going on.

Idle: 38c
Full: 42c

I believe the temps are ok. Tried re-installing directx 8.1, set fastwrites off, turned it to agp 2x, seems to be a bit more stable. Let's see how far this thing will go in some RTCW or FS2002

Might want to check your mem timings as well. Also, tell people the specs on your system!!

Mem timings are at most aggressive, so yeah you could be right. Sorry, I always forget to do that. Always in a hurry to get it on the board as fast as possible, and I dont' realize it's not gonna be very helpful w/out sys specs.

Sys specs:

1700+ XP (Dynatron 625B w/ 38cfm delta)
Shuttle AK35GTR (raid disabled, onboard sound disabled)
512mb Crucial pc2100 (fastest mem timings)
Sound Blaster 16 PCI
MSI GF4 TI4400 (stock speeds)
350 Antec PSU
40x Teac
16x Toshiba DVD
Netgear FA11 Ethernet Card
2 intake, 2 exhaust on Cheiftec case
40GB Maxtor HD
3.5 floppy
Idle 36-37, load 43 (In Texas too!)
Using 1 USB port

I have the same motherboard; memory (2-128 PC2100) and 1700+ processor and I have the same issue. I changed some settings in the bios and in windows pertaining to the temps and the shutdown method and instead of the system going into standby .. the repeating sound over and over .. it shuts down. I have a thread in here as well for the same problem .. I have swapped hardware .. increased the air flow figuring it is a cooling issue .. dropped a volcano cooler on it .. no go..
