MWave = Motherboard bundles (prebuilt and tested for $9? OK!)
NewEgg = Everything else

It basically ends in me walking away from a pile of rubble, sweaty and breathing heavily.

Sounds like a good plotline for Serious Sam III: Customer Revenge Month.

That would be a good game as a demo at besy buy or circuit city, etc .... let see i would call it frying fry's

BTW i heard they re-shelf returns, even though it doesnt work .

I was also a victim of Frys. My first built, i bought a case from them. didnt think why it was retaped on the top of the box......months later i found newegg on the net and they also sell the same case..... with fans and lite tube......the case from frys was missing fans and lite tube... too late to return damn frys

NewEgg.

only advantage that B&M retailers have is that I can drive there, buy it, and be home within 30 minutes. but the prices tend to be higher and the selection much smaller.

I don't know how CompUsa stays in business.
I mean, yes, it's nice to visit the store and actually look at certain products, but they're way over what you can get online.
One time, my PS fan was making noise. Went to Compusa and looked, was going to buy a new PS locally just to have it now, then said no way, they're $20 more than online. Freakin, that's dinner at a restaurant. Went home, ordered from Newegg, it arrive a few days later, installed, no problem.

Everyone loves Newegg a lot around here, and I also agree that Newegg is an awesome place to buy CPU's, memory, PSU's, mobo's etc. But Newegg's drives cost more than what I could get for sale locally, and sometimes, you can get better deals on stuff like ram, TV cards, and video cards locally.

Does everyone buy drives from Newegg even though it's usually cheaper when on sale locally?

well, I was never quite crazy about the idea about driving all the way to a store to get something that I could order online and have in 2 days. to me, the marginal cost is at stake. for me to drive out, I need to have a friend bring me and thus impose on them >_<

Newegg has much better selection. I wanted a slim, black, desktop case for an HTPC. Newegg had it, CompUSA and CircuitCity didn't. If you want something fairly generic and don't want to wait, then use the B&M's. But for price (even with shipping on most items) and selection, Newegg and other stores like Axiontech and Mwave are a better choice.
