Hi all, I'm searching for a CF type I card for my Canon digital camera but there're so many different brands on the market. Would anyone please give me some advise on finding the most reliable CF card with either 512MB or 1GB capacity. (price is not an issue)

Following are the brands I'm considering:
- Ritek Ridata
- Smart Modular
- Kingston
- Sandisk

Thanks a lot for your help ^_^

Go with the Kingston High-Speed CF. Sandisk is incredibly expensive, and tests show that it is actually very slow.

Between your list, I'd take Kingston but PNY is just as good IMO

Thanks for your reply. Does anyone use Ritek Ridata ?? It claims to be the fastest CF card on the market. I don't know how it works in reality and how fast/reliable it is.

Following is the description of the card:

The King of Speed - the fastest CF card in the market!

Your camera will be ready to take the next picture up to 700% faster than it does with most Compact Flash.
Your Digital Device will run more smoothly and start up faster due to the speed of the card.
Good Quality Control - Every single CF card is inspected after assembly, each card is initialized to verify operation of each flash storage sector.
Failure Rate is less than 0.1%.
Compatible with all products that accept Compact Flash.

Never used Ritek. I've had good experiences with Kingston.

I've been looking too, and the only CF/digital camera review I've seen said that the camera itself is the bottleneck on speed. That review was around 2 years old.

I will admit to having been a victim of the SanDisk craze. I paid around $240 for a 1.0GB card. It is quite slow, at least when compared to my 256MB Viking card.

DPReview.com has a few CF speed comparisons... From what I can see, the Kingston cards do fairly well, but Sandisk is handily beaten but just about everyone else on the market. It is a slightly older review, so things may have changed, but I haven't heard anything to the contrary of those results so far.

I have a 256MB Kingston CFC for my Canon PowerShot G3. I had gotten it because I heard decent things about it, and I was able to get it for $49 plus a $15 MIR (~$34 after everything, basically). I've been using it for a couple months now and have no complaints.... it works really well and I haven't had any issues with it.
