Just stopped by the Home Depot in Commerce, Ca. Snagged me five compact florescent bulbs for only $2.24 each. These bulbs are 15W bulbs that give out 60-75W equivalent. On each package was a sticker stating that the price of the bulb was supplemented by So. Cal Edison.
Super great deal if ya ask me!!!

i love those florescent bulbs... used to have a 300watt halogen lamp in my room that sucked up electricity. now i have a 3 bulb lamp using those 13watt small florescent bulbs, and light up the room nicely. i use 2 so 26watts vs 300watts. not as much worries about leaving my lights on anymore..

Will you buy me some and ship them? They weigh so little it would be worth it. I am wanting to replace the 100+ light bulbs in my house, and this would save several hundred dollars.

Regards.

Not a mansion, but around 4000 square feet. Consider the inside and oustside bulbs, chandaliers, etc...

Last week costco has 4.99(i think) dollars for 3 or 4 100W, 5.99 for 5 60W. the reg price is 19.99 but pg&e is giving you 15 instant rebate. There might be still around, so check it out.

Just a heads up... I got some cheap fluorescent lightbulbs at Home Depot as well, in Cincinnati, OH. They were extremely white, as in unnatural-hospital light white. Luckily, Home Depot will take stuff back even if the package is opened.

The fluorescent bulbs I use are very close to incandescent light, they're made by GE and are a spiral bulb.

Great deal on bulbs, though -- I don't mean to thread-crap!

Cstring - I live in Kansas, and no subsidization here. I do have a CostCo, and that is where I am getting my current bulbs. I would LOVE to get a bulk of them at that price. Let me know if you can help out. I will make it worth your while!

I bought a pair of 2-pack REIT flourescent bulb from Costco today for 3.29 each 2-pack. That means each bulb is only 1.65 or so. These are 1100 lumens (equivalent to 60-75 watts incandescent bulb), 15-watt, spiral bulbs and easily replace those incandescent ones because of their short size.

Marlin1975: Do you have the UPC and SKU numbers for home depot and the name on the bulb????

They are FEIT EcoBulbs, SKU 017801860306 These bulbs were not with the regularly priced Compact Fluorescents in the store I went to -- they had a special display for them. If I hadn't read about the deal here, I probably would have ended up paying 3 times as much for the same lumen value.

These bulbs don't have any information about their color index but I prefer the whiter ones in lamps and fixtures with diffusers so they are fine for me. I just need to find a good price on a few with higher lumens for a couple of locations. I hope SCE repeats its 20/20 promotion next summer because I'm pretty sure we'll qualify by then.

Don't want to crap on this thread......but while using the crapper, I looked up and saw flames coming out
the 15watter I have in the exhaust fan fixture. I'm sure if I wasn't there I'd be looking at major fire damage.
I replaced all my regular blubs with these and now am pulling them all out. Scared the hell outta me.
Almost Really doing the Bluz.

Sorry MISMan, there is a limit of 3 packs per family, we have 2 cards so we bought 6 packs.
There is no buzz actually, but they are kinda slow to turn on and kinda dim at first but they do get brighter after a few sec.

Even at full price these bulbs are a hot deal. Since I'm changed my bulbs to fluorescent the bills have been much much less. Home depot also has fluorescent torchiere's to replace those energy muching halogen ones you have.

These flourescent lights take some time to get to full brightness, and will take longer to get to full brightness the longer you've been using them (at the beginning of it's life, they usually get to full brightness pretty quickly). Even the better GE bulbs will do this. So I wouldn't put these kind of flourescent lights in places which you won't have the light on for an extended period, or in places which you need immediate bright light output right away.
