Did anyone even bother reading my POST?????????? If you do buy some of these buy the best ones you can. The cheap ones are dangerous. Be careful out there.....it's not worth burning your house down to save a couple of bucks.

Yes, we did read your post. Your experience with one bulb seems to be an exception. These bulbs are usually the same price as GE or Philips, the price is right now because of an SCE sponsored promotion. GE bulbs were also very cheap during a different promotion during the summer. I've been using 2 other FEIT bulbs in high use areas since July and never seen any problem at all.

Check the wiring in the socket and take your defective bulb back to whomever sold it to you.

actually he's quite correct.
some early versions used to burst into flame.
There was a number of recall notices about it and Mass Electric did a campain to replace all the ones they had given out.
It wasn't the bulb section but the lower part with the ballast

a Costco in San Diego has a 2 pack of 150 watt equiv. bulbs by lights of america for under $4 +/- $3.80
That seems like the best deal I had seen. They have lots of other types but not that cheap.

BigHammer your right on the money. Flames shot out of the balest resistor area. Wasn't out of the socket and as I live in R.I. next door to you.......may be from one of those batches. Anyhow I saved the bulb and emailed the manufacturer. Hey I've been around for a while and never seen this happen. Seeing this can make you very paranoid about leaving the house with a couple of lights on.

I went to the Costco and Home Depot in Torrance (SoCal), and didn't see any of the SoCal Edison subsidized flourescent lights mentioned. Home Depot did have these Panasonic ones for $4 a piece after Edison rebate.

Last week at Costco in the Bayarea, the 5 pack 60W (13watts/bulb) FEIT fluorescent bulbs were 4.99. That's a buck a bulb. 19.99 with instant 15.00 PGE rebate. Don't know if the sale is still going on, but it might be worth checking at that price. All the other fluorescent types were also at a similar savings.

Crud,

I am about to fly out to CA just to pick up 5 cases of these bulbs if they are panasonics. Panosonic RULES when it comes to CF bulbs.

The ones from Costco are pretty good too. They have the only flood that looks like a flood light I have seen.

I remember the ones that were like floodlights. I think they were 7.99 for a 4 pack.

I was at Costco over the weekend (San Diego) and found a 2-pack of CF bulbs for $3.60. These where 25W / 100W bulbs. There was no rebate, that was just the price.

That's strange...I just came back from the Torrance Home Depot and the Panasonic cf bulbs were going for $8. I'll go back tomorrow and ask someone about a rebate.

You might want to go back and look again. I was at both types of stores today picking up some stuff for a project and they both had big bins of the FEIT ECOBulbs. Costco had 3-packs of he 100 Watt (1400 lumens) equivalent for $4.99 and Home Depot has the 60-75 Watt (1100 lumens) equvalents for 2.24 each. Costco also has some 2-packs of a smaller sized 60-Watt replacement.

For anyone who needs them, CostCo also had a 4-pack of 65-Watt equivalent flood lights for $20. Unfortunately, I can't remember the brand. I need some flood lights but only 2 so I passed on those.

My experience has been that the wattage equivalent rating is just a guideline, you really have to pay attention to the lumens. I found some 2000 lumens bulbs for just under $13/each -- I'm still looking for a better price.
