Our company is pretty small, about 20 people or so. Every year they have a Christmas "party", which is really just a dinner at a local pub/grill. There was 45 people there with our +1 (spouses and whatnot), so we filled up quite a bit of the place. We had our choice of bacon wrapped steak, goat-cheese stuffed chicken, or salmon.

FANTASTIC food, first two drinks were on the company, we pretty much took over the place and went crazy. Our finance assistant had about 8 pineapple martini's, ended up puking in the bathroom, and had to be carried to her car by her husband.

All the guys in the company were taking part in Movember, growing mustaches and raising money for the month of November. Part of that is that we were having a contest to see who could grow the cheesiest mustache. Someone had the bright idea of getting the whole restaurant involved, so we had to parade around and let everyone look at us, and then cheer for the best one. The guy who ended up winning is one of our programmers, Kevin. He's skinny, short, and Chinese. He didn't even grow a mustache, just a bit of stubble, and that took all month. He got some random guys to start cheering his name, and it caught on, so he won the contest (which there was no prize for, and we all paid $20 to take part in, which went to the Prostate Cancer Society of Canada as a donation).

Since it's Saturday night, they play music bingo, which we got a little too much into, and kept interrupting by continuing to sing the songs after they stopped playing them.

Overall a wicked awesome evening, totally paid for by the company. Wish I had brought my camera, all I had was my cell which totally sucks (especially in low light), but I know others were taking pictures so come Monday I'll be uploading some

My company's Christmas party consists of a $5 or less gift to each staff member. Oh, that's my Christmas bonus too.

Same... our regional office runs a party (far from here...) but for anyone to attend it's $45 each. Screw that...

I used to hear stories at Tektronix about how much fun the office parties were.
I also used to hear about how HP treated their people, back when things were still good.

I remember when I worked for BOSE. They had pretty good parties...but they had this no alcohol policy. My gf's company, Mathworks, HOLY SH&T....that company can party.

Our Christmas party is on Dec. 12 at a local mansion turned resort called The Esperanza. The entire deal is being paid for the company, but if we want to stay the night we can get rooms (our responsibility). The bar will be open, food will be plentiful, and there is even going to be entertainment. I don't know what to expect as this is my first year with my new employer, but being that my employees are wild power plant operators it's sure to be interesting.

I'm skipping my company party for the first time in 7 years to go on an interview. It's on a Thursday afternoon. Free food and booze, but overall a lame time.
My wife's company party is nice. It's on a Friday evening at a nice hotel. We'll be attending that one.

I don't go to my company's party. It's really nice and all -- huge event at a swanky hotel, sometimes celebrities. It's just that every time you get into that conversation with a drunk co-worker you *don't* want to have because it "breaks the fourth wall". You know, like, "Oh yeah, that Denise in accounting -- great ass I tell ya *hick*".

Ours is at a partner's house. Food is catered (last year was prime rib and turkey) and there is bartender on site. Not sure I can make it this year. For some reason it is always on a week night and his place is pretty far from my place so by the time I get home it would be past midnight. I am not willing to go alone again and leave my wife home with our 4 year old.

My company's Christmas party is in two weeks at the local country club and has free food and drinks. It's usually a pretty good time but my wife will be out of town so I'll have to go by myself for the first time.

I finally get to go to my wife's Christmas party this year. All the previous years, I had been out of town on a school trip. The food is supposed to be incredible, served buffet style - carving stations for prime rib, roasted turkey... outstanding selection of other foods.

The party for my student internship is just a pot luck lunch, not even really a party.
The part for the bar that I work at however, will be a private party with lots of free booze. Gonna be interesting taking 2 finals the next morning.

We organized my company party for last weekend, and it was a good time. We had about 120 for dinner, drinks and entertainment with it going on late into the night. We had it catered by one of the local golf clubs, who do a very good job of the food, and we had the place to ourselves. We also provided the dinner and two drinks, draw prizes, etc for free. I found it odd that a lot of our newer employees were surprised I would pay for the evening.

Some of the younger folk ended up convincing the bartender (a not too shabby young lady) to join them in doing shots at the end of the evening, and I had to make sure we had enough taxis to get them all home (again company supplied). It is an expensive evening, but well worth it.

PS: Which Victoria Pub did you take over?
