At IBM there are many great discounts available, including from Sprint, AT&T, Barnes and Noble, Ford, GM, and many others.

I don't know how you got a hold of that link... either way, most / all of those places require you to provide your IBM serial number before being able to take advantage anyway. I used the Wells Fargo, Sprint and Ford/Mazda XPLAN this year alone.

Unfortunately, with most companies that constitues fraud and will result in your termination from the company, so I would advise greatly against this.

Hmm, fraud and theft methinks, this shouldnt be news to many people though. Most big companies have these type of programs, those in retail like me have "accomodations programs" where companies will sell you stuff for cheap if you work for a company that sells their stuff, i.e. the intel retail promotion. Some are even better, i.e. even relatives of ford retailers are eligible for awesome deals on their vehicles, you just get a pin # from your relative and can use it at another ford dealership.

Well there's a difference between friends & family discounts (very lax rules - hey we're all friends as long as we have the flyer or your discount code) and employee-only discounts (you better be the only one who has your ID#).

The difference is that the various companies lose more money and that makes them unhappy. The F&F sales are sanctioned and usually have some restrictions placed on what is on sale, whereas an "employee discount" is usually a greater margin of sale and less restrictions.

This is more of a Brag & Moan but anyway...

I get discounts with Dell, Gateway, and Microsoft through the AFB I work on...

I picked up Office 2003 Professional for $19.95 +tax a few days ago through MS's Home-Use-Program. I also have access to their Employee Purchase Program as well.

Fine print from the referenced website (emphasis is mine):
Welcome to Beneplace. Beneplace is an independent gateway for IBM' active and retired employees to voluntary benefits, discounts and special services offered by IBM' customers, vendors and other companies. IBM does not promote or endorse and is not responsible for any of these products or services.

So, it looks like the companies mentioned on that website are just looking for new customers. They "voluntarily" make these offers. They hope that everybody will rush to take advantage of the offers believing that regularly only IBM employees are entitled and these deals are not available anywhere else.
