does anyone know how good the warrenty for the compaq monitors are???

Has anyone ever experienced problems with theirs, and how did compaq help you out?

i bought a compaq v410e 15" svga monitor for $79.99 w/ a 50.00 rebate about two christmases ago. i got the rebate within the allotted time period as well. the quality of the monitor however, is simply horrendous. lots of flickering, slow refresh rates, and it would display alot of game animation improperly (diablo2, everquest, and simthemepark come to mind).

it makes a great network server monitor tho as i dont have to look at it as much

keep in mind this is just my experience on this particular model of compaq monitors. for $30.00 tho, its a tolerable monitor.

First of all, a 15" monitor has nothing to do with a 19" monitor (See: NEC, which makes a host of crap smaller monitors.)

Likewise, a 19" monitor with defferent specs than this one has nothing to do with this monitor, either.

If you read the user reviews linked above -- and there are a lot of them -- you'll find them all over the map. Some people love it, some have had problems.

I think you have to look at it this way: This is the absolute cheapest 19" monitor you are going to find ANYWHERE. Add to that that it's a brand name, has a solid warranty, is from a reputable online retailer, and I don't see how you can't at least risk it (if you're in the market for a 19", that is).

it's not the chepest
I am sure that if you used your 40% off on something else you could have picked up a samsung for about $220, which has a 3 year warrenty

Casiotech: Can you explain how $220 is cheaper than $149?

(Can you also point me to the $220 Samsung? I saw the $250 deal, but that was the cheapest I saw.)

When I put in a bid for this monitor at Mercata, it specifically said "limited to two monitors." As for the rebate, I am guess (maybe wrongly) that you can only get one $100 rebate for one monitor. This is usually the case with rebates, unless the form specifically says multiples of one product are accepted. Like I said, I could be wrong. I tried to read the specifics and this rebate form was confusing, just like most.

http://athome.compaq.com/showroom/static/promo/fall_savings/index.asp

The above has most of the rebate information. It kind of bothers me that Mercata makes no mention of the rebate, they usually hype these things, but I still think the rebate is good to go.

I got in this deal a few days ago, and so did 2 of my friends. This is one hack of a deal for just $150. Its got good resolutions and refresh rates for good gaming @ 1020x768 or 1280x1024 flicker free.

I also made my bid today.. Strangely the monitor didn't show up when I went through the msn.com and search for it. However it was there as I went through ebates.com, I made my bid and passport discount also appeared in my order $33 tax as a WA resident though. I can live w/ that. $13 shipment is nothing for a 19" monitor.. I think there is something wrong with the shipping weight info on the site (which i won't complain ).. It says 18 pounds and calculates the shipment accordingly, where as most 19 inchers are over 50 pounds..

Yup, you're right, the actual weight on this thing is about 60 pounds, but I got it shipped for $10 as opposed to about 25-30 as it should be where I am.

You don't have to access Mercata through MSN passport to get the passport deal. I found the same problem as you -- when I clicked on the Mercata link in MSN, I got a limited list of items for sale. I exited this and went to Mercata from my favorites list. Everything was there. When you purchase the item, click on the passport link. It would appear the MSN passport link is directed you to a limited Mercata selection.

I've had the 100 Mercata bucks burning a hole in my pocked for a few days now. I couldn't stand to let them expire. I could use an upgrade as is nearing 3-4 years old and has been through 4 of my home built PC's. I looked for other things for days and never found anything. This is a deal not to be passed up if you do have MB and still warm even with only the MS passport discount + rebate.

Did anyone get one yet? I'm itching to see if it'll look better than my Nokia 447XiPlus (trinitron tube). Doubtful but if not someone else in my family can use it. I've come to appreciate this Nokia more as at work we have some nice ViewSonic moniters that just don't focus very well (and they are high end models too).

Got mine 2 days ago (shipped from NJ so I got it the next day). I used to use a Mag dx700t, and in my opinion, this mv920 is great. It's bright and sharp. Unbeatable for the price. I have a VERY slight geometry issue, but I haven't taken any time to tweak it out yet, so I'm not expecting any trouble.

Pardon my ignorance, but when the rebate asks for the bar code labels, it's referring to the ones on the box, right?

I can hardly believe it shipped for $6.92 _same day_ from NJ to MA. This sucker is heavy! :Q

I'm assuming it's the barcode sticker on the box, but I plan on calling Compaq just to make sure I get it right. $100 is a lot to risk on screwin up a mail-in. I saw an 800 number on one of the pages relating to the rebates.

um... It's a regular tube, it's not close to flat

it may be a little flatter, but if you lay it down on the front, you will see the sides stick up 3-5 inches

are you serious, at 1280x1074 it already blurry? What about 1600x1200? Fuzzy as a peach probably.

LOL

As soon as I finish this web page for someone I will get enough money for that samsung flat tube.

Actually It does look quite flat I know its not flat but it looks pretty flat and it doesnt stick out that much not even close. Its fuzzy for me just at 1280x1074 though, at 1600x1200 its actually less fuzzy, Im not sure if I have it set wrong or maybe graphics card or what

you know, I never could tell why a video card could blur pixel's in 2d mode, probably the tube.

anyways, try to put a rule to it in the center and measure the tube (without the bezel) on the outside, it should be about a 2-3 inch space (oops, didn't mean 5 in.)

the only thing that I like are the speakers. They are straight.
