Snagged one, dunno how good of a monitor it is, but at $166 net shipped (damn tax), it will be at the very least a good backup monitor.

Thanks for the heads up

I have done 3 major rebates (200,200,250) and all 3 came within the alloted time period. No problems here.

Don't forget the 5% Ebates discount too and get another $12 or so off the price. Brings the price under $140!

Cool. It took a little work but I got two of them for $247 each shipped. Maybe less if the ebates rebate comes through. I'm using the older MV900 and it's a great monitor.

As far as the $100 rebate, we only purchase Compaq computers at my office and have never had a problem getting the rebate money back. Most have taken less than a month, and we've probably gotten 6-8 rebates from Compaq.

ok, I have a hotmail account, now can someone tell me how to use it??? Basically, all I have to do is to go to the store, like Mercata, and just make the order under the passport login, and then it will automatically be deducted?

Also, how do I sign up for the deal at Mercata to get their 20% off???

Wow, sorry to tell you this buddy but if you didn't create a mercata account by yesterday then you missed their 20% off deal. As for the msn passport you can either go to their site and sign up(the link is in tons of threads just search for passport) or just make a powerbuy at mercata and then when you're checking out select the passport icon and it will let you create a new account right there. Mercata is pretty slow today so it'd probably be better if you signed up for msn passport first and then went to mercata IMO. Either way you do it, when you checkout using the passport it should automatically deduct 20% from your total. Good luck.

I went to circuit city and saw a compaq mv940, which I assume is about the same as mv920 (both 19'), and I wasn't too impressed. It's screen is nowhere near flat, and it pales in comparisson to the viewsonic pf790, and especially the kds av195tf, which I saw at best buy, and are both also at mercata, even though the kds is not a powerbuy right now. However, any 19' name-brand monitor you can get for $150 is a pretty sweet deal.

I think the MV920 and the MV940 are completely different. The specs for the MV920 are much higher than the MV940. (Higher max resolution and higher refresh rate.) I have an MV900 which has the same specs as the MV920 and it's a really nice monitor. Better than anything I saw when I bought it in January 1999 (for $599 mind you.) I bought two of the MV920's this morning using this deal.

Note: I can't stand the "flat" screen CRT tubes like on some of the newer monitors and Sony Wega TVs because they apppear to curve IN to me. The CRT on my MV900 is pretty flat but still has a curve, so if you're looking for a perfectly flat monitor the MV920 is probably not for you.

Unfortunately I live in Washington state, so I got socked for $33 dollars in tax. But the shipping was good at only $13 for a heavy item like this. I think the rebate is totally legit. Here is a link to the rebate page. I especially like the fact that you can start the rebate process online using the serial number of the monitor.

This is the first time I have used Mercata. Not sure if I made a mistake, but I bid $350. Maybe it won't go this low and I will lose out, but I'm not real excited about racking up more charges on the old credit card. If everything falls in place, including getting the rebate, my final cost would be $160. I know for a fact I can sell this for at least $200.

Don't feel bad I only bid $250.00. If I get it good and if I don't there will be more hot deals.

hey, about your post on the MV920, did you get the monitors for $150?Did you miss out on the Mercata 20% off deal or not, I can't tell in your post...

also, the 940 and the 920 are the same, and the 900, just some fancy bezzeling difference...

I am using the mv520 which I bought for $300 in a computer package and it's not a name brand monitor, its made by some crappy oem that have been in business for 4 years.

and what do you need 2 more 19" monitors???

I am going to go say that there page had errors on it, and maybe it will work...

How can the MV920 and MV940 be the same? If you look at the compaq webpage, the specs for each is different.

Specs for MV940

Specs for MV920

Take a look at the max refresh rate at 16x12. The MV940 only goes up to 60 Hz (bleh), while the MV920 goes up to 75.

I'm planning on running mine at 12x10 at 85 Hz.

Yah, I know it seems counterintuitive that a higher-number model has worse specs. Threw me off too, when I first looked.

The specs on their page are always wrong, this is due because they take the specs on different computers. I think some of them have vid cards that are integrated that can't go higher than 75Hz, but before they had better ones then now, now they switched those pc's to internet rather than gaming...

I have a friend who works for them and he told me something like that...

Just how many of those monitors does mercata have in stock?

anyways, I am not big on compaq monitors (as you could search up on my earlier posts!!!) because they have pincussion problems when swiching back and forth between windows.

and if you look up my nick and see a couple of times, I would have these little staticy lines running up and down my monitor on the right side, regaurdless of which video card I plugged it in, this being a 4 mon old monitor.

But I have a friend who wants to really give me $250, and he has been calling me all day, asking if I got it or not. I told him that it comes with speakers, which is true, $35 ones...

Hope my they will have some in stock, I mean, you guys are like "I just bought 4 monitors" like it was nothing.

It is limited to 2 monitors. The rebate is probably for only one monitor.

What bothers me is this is now a powerbuy and it has only gone down maybe 16 cents in the last day.
