MUST DO THIS B&M (or else $50 more exp.)

1199 for 900z Athlon 1500 basic config
-300 instant savings
-100 MIR (expires 11/12!)
-30 Coupon
-50 Coupon (check chubbywallet)
-150 rebate starts 10/13 (I talked to manager, he said we could return it and rebuy it at the same price without a restocking fee if we didnt open it.)
-75 shipping IF we can find a website that ships the 900z free!

PLUS!

Bring in the Ad that says $200 instant savings on ANY BTO LAPTOP and get another $200 off! Just ask nicely to the manager BEFORE you add the $50 coupon. Add the $50 coupon AFTERWARDS.

so: 1199 - 300 - 100 - 50 - 30 - 150 - 75 - 200 MIGHT GIVE YOU $300. If not the $200 then 500.

I am assuming this is Staples. Not sure how much luck you will have on using both the $300 off a BTO system and the $200, but if it works, then great!

One other thing about the price above, the $1199 starting price is without shipping ($75), but it is subtracted later on in the post, so your end cost would be $75 higher.

I agree on both accounts.

This is probably at Staples B&M. How can you subtract $75 shipping when it's not a coupon and you haven't been charged it?

Your price should be PLUS $75 since you cannot discount something you were never charged for.

It doesn't allow you to use the $30 coupon on it, plus getting the $75 off for shipping will be next to impossible imo...

Plus the $200 off will be hard unless you get a really stupid manager...

Good luck to whoever tries, you can still get this for $725 which is still a nice deal ($1199 - $300 - $100 - $150 + $75)

You can't count on the $150 rebate. Rumors say it is for desktop, not the laptop.

Besides, somebody has posted their next-week in-store special. The rebate is still

$100, not $150. Your final cost should add $150, and make it $725.

If the $150 is true, why bother? You can buy it next week.

Staple's circular for the 13th shows $150 instant savings on PCs (NOT laptops)... Will there magically be a $150 mail in rebate starting that's not in the circular? If so I'm going to jump on this...

Just to clarify this, the price is 1125 WITHOUT shipping, 1200 WITH shipping. At staples of course

Bingo.
I just check next-week circular. Actually, the $150 or $100 mail in rebate depends on the area.
When I use the zip code in Texas, the Staples mail in rebate is $100 only, but when I use the
zip code in Georgia, the MIR is $150. So, let me calculate the price again.

1199
- 300 coupon
- 50 coupon
- 30 coupon
- 75 shipping fee waive
+ 7% tax
---------------------------------
796.08
- 5% business reward
- 100 Compaq rebate
- 150 Staples MIR
---------------------------------
505.33

So the final price is $505.33. It's flamming................................HOT. Hotter than ZE1201.

Hmmm just curious since I already bought my 900Z earlier this week. I am wondering whether have you done this deal or are you just suggesting a theoretical deal.

Just a thought.

Once again, I believe that this is a deal that only a Ferengi master can pull off, not a padawan or any hotdeal newbie, nor a ebay troll.
Basically, only one without any greed would be able to convince the staple's manager to do as you say. A mind control master.

Man. It's not a hypothetical deal. Check out your in-store special now, and you'll see the deal. It's true.

I am fully aware of those ads. The thing is that you will be stacking a whole stack of coupons. And the possiblities of being successful, or being successful at all is zero unless the author of this deal already did it. Otherwise this deal would be more of a YMMV kind of deal.

And if that is the case, a kind YMMV in your title would be nice for all users as well as B&M.

Thanks alot. No offense intended, just wanna improve our satisfaction of the forum.

Yesterday I went to the Staples. The CSR accepted every coupon I asked except the $200 instant savings, and I

canceled the deal because of that. I am thinking that perhaps I should go back tomorrow to buy the item without

the $200 instant savings, and return and buy it again next Monday to get the $150 MIR.

You really should try the deal before you post it. As far as I know there has only been one successful person to get 200 instant with the 300 coupon code. The 150 rebate specifically states not for BTO units, and yes this is a BTO unit even if you choose default. The stacking coupon is 50/50 chance. Some are able to get 30 with the 50 but most can only get 50. So the total saving as of this moment that you can be for sure about is 300 coupon + 100 MIR + 50 coupon = 450. Most people can get the shipping waived which amounts to 525 and if they accept your 30 coupon as well = 555.

1199 - 555 = 644 + tax

This is what you should be expecting.

Since when do the people here become so pessimistic? We should know all the possibilities,

and if you can't get it, just let go. Why can't we post the deal before we really get it? Everyone

knows this kind of deal is YMMV. I'm posting the deal here, not teaching the elementary school

students.

someone said in another thread that these are being some of these are being sold so cheap b/c Staples is getting rid of HP. this deal (if doable) would of course refute this claim to some degree as this is a Compaq. I'm not sure as to who HP/Compaq will label their products now but I guess Staples could be dropping both Compaq and HP as they are the same now? Also noticing a lot of Athlon's going for cheaper... heat? just some thoughts. nice post btw... stop griping guys and give it a try if youre up for it - on the otherhand the poster should give it a whirl so he/she can give everyone a better idea of what theyre running into.

Ok.

Now that we got most of the work done. Its time to talk about the notebook itself. I took a trip to local stores to check out the 900 series laptop. I was not impressed by the particular notebook that they have in BB it looks dusty and old and like as if its been there for ages. And when I got to compusa, they had a out of the box 900 on display, they have not even power it up yet. So I had to help them out. Anyway that was as far as I got to. The computer looks really cool when it is clean and new. The multiport was smaller then I thought.(wonder whether we can put a regular PC card in there.)

The only thing that made the PC a slight problem is the touch pad. Its like a caved down touch pad, dirts and other junk will difinately get into the seams that surrounds the touch pad. So that is a minus.

As far as usage, performance ect I didnt have much chance to do so. No graphic software such as photoshop, movie editor kind of software on the computer. In any case look at anandtech review and another forum for more info.

Just wanted to save the time of people who would end up buying the laptop thinking they

were going to be able to get it for ~500 because of postes like this. But what do I know, I'm just

an elementary school student.

Why are you figuring in the $150 MIR that is NOT valid on BTO's and the $300 Instant Rebate that is ONLY for BTO notebooks?? You are just confusing people who want to get in on this deal.......

Furthermore, the $75 shipping fee that is being waived, is YMMV. You should put that in your post so people aren't further confused.....
