They are sending me a $50 courtesy coupon for the difference between the offer this week and when I bought 10 days ago. Very fair IMO.

I called this morning and the CSR said I could get the $50 credit, however since I bought it in store I would have to go back to the store I bought it from to get the $50. i'll go with my receipts tomorrow and hope the manager isn't a total @ss... Maybe, I will just try for a gift card or store credit.. I gotta buy Turbo Tax anyway...

That is not true (either of you). I purchased in store and got the credit via the 800 number and the deal is not dead it is $50 better!!

Not the Athlon 2000+ deal, you can still get it right online. I went to try to do the Athlon 2600+ deal that was linked to at FW....I was laughed at by the manager. He would only PM after the coupon was applied...oh well.

Hi everyone. I just spoke to Colleen (very nice) at Staples corporate. The $200 coupon is for a minimum order of $499 which I was $16 short of (other coupons were applied) so I didn't get the difference back. The BTO site is still down so I suspect there is a major re-working going on.

That sucks. The Staples build-to-order site has some problems in the past few days (outages, etc). Just check back every once and a while. I was able to place an order this morning. This is a sweet deal! Only negative thing is the $75 shipping. I called my local store and the manager wouldn't remove the shipping cost because its a build-to-order machine, even if I did a in-store pickup ( I got the same answer too from the CSR at the 800 number). Oh well, its still a great price.

I just got the same exact story... Not buying it.... page says $200 of instantly.. there is no mention of a minimum amount... even though I am now at $206 for this system, I think $156 is better.. gonna try to PM at the B&M where I ordered it last week....

Even thoiugh the BTO is still down some peolel at Fat wallet have been able to get them to take their order.

And yes I have a print out of what their site says, and there is no mention of a Min.

Stopped by Staples earlier to check at the kiosk.... it worked but the 2k XP is no longer available.... only the 2.2k at an additional $200.... not sure if the coupons still work or not, I didnt try after seeing the additional cost. Seems like the price was $62x before any coupons....

I just ordered one for $487 after the $200 discount and $50 rebate. I got the Athlon XP 2200+ (the 2000+ is no longer available), Windows XP Pro (+59), the optical mouse (+10), and a 40GB 7200 rpm hard drive (+30). I tried to use a 50 off 200 coupon and it appears in my order history but not in the order tracking page.

Deal is dying quickly... staples bumped up the price.... This deal on a similar HP is looking kind of nice though...

Yup, I saw that too. HP is much more reasonable on the processor upgrade but bad on video cards. Looks like they're using the same mobo so it should have USB 2.0. Least expensive configuraton for 2200+ was around 365 shipped + tax - rebate (if any) so we're fairly close.

Got my order in at the B&M. Bought the HP 774e with Athlon XP 2400+. They let me use a $40 coupon and they waived the shipping since I'm a gold member. Total including taxes is $299.xx.

I thought the compaq did NOT use the nforce, whereas the HP does? Also, i read that the compaq does not use USB 2.0.

Both of them use a FIC KM266 board with the 8235 southbridge that has USB2.0 built into it. Compaq use to use the nForce but I bet VIA made them a deal they could not turn down.

the extra 128 ram is $19
the AMD upgrade is $20 instead of $200

bad upgrades:
video cards - if it only had the compaq's ati
xp pro - why is it twice the upgrade price of the compaq?

very strange since they are the same company

but now the price is 358. considering how much MS wants just for XP....

thanks marlin - looked at fat wallet and may get the 700 series with the 2400+ - office xp is 399 at compusa by itsef - i just hate the big bro stuff with activation . maybe star office ?

Scheduled Delivery Date: 03/05/03

Hopefully its been shipped and arrives way before that 3/5 date.
