Compaq iPAQ PPC 2002 Update

If you are looking for a newer Ipaq running 2002 OS for under $200 you will be waiting quite a while, they are still selling used for over $300.

Well all, I got it for $159.99 minus the $50 rebate. I will post the details next week, sorry. I need to pick a few more up before I let you all run rampant and snatch them up in my area! The deal should still work early next week without a problem.

Sorry, maybe I should have just kept my mouth shut until I was ready to post. But for that price I was dying to tell someone!

Two words: NO WAY! Even if there was some online store that had this price advertised (either a pricing error or they're a bunch of trolls), there's no way in hell Sears or Staples will PM it. They won't knock off $100 off their price without contacting the corp hq, which obviously won't allow this PM, let alone $350.

IMO, MSUman got his iPAQ(s) through one of the many Compaq iPAQ promotions that they offer to select groups. Some of the current promotions are the ASE 3765 promo, the Phoenix University 3670 promo, the 3765 Engineering Student promo, and that is just to name a few. These programs usully require that you meet the eligibility requirements of the offer, you then order the iPAQ through the reseller of your choice and Compaq rhen ships the iPAQ to the reseller and ou pick it up. While $159.00 is low under these programs it is entirely possible. For exmple, Compaq was selling promotional bundles with 3765 at CES 2002 three weeks ago for $ 299.99 which included the retail boxed 3765,a CF sleeve, 65MB CF memory, and a leather case. Compaq also ofered a 3870 bundle that we purchased. If the 3870 bundle was not being offered then I would have jumped on that 3765 deal. Compaq killer iPAQ deals do exist.

As stated, the 3870 was a CES 2002 promotion. To see if you qualify for for a student discount you need to contact Compaq education or your local Dean's office. For the ASE, you can read about current promotions here

The CES 2002 deal included the retail boxed 3870, the new design PCMCIA Sleeve, 64MB SD card, and leather case for $499.99. IMO a hot deal.
