Compaq Ipaq Syncing Problems

I am using a Ipaq 3835 with Active Sync 3.5
When I connect the Ipaq, the power turns on and then the "connecting" occurs. But the ipaq never connects to the computer... It just says "connecting" for a long time. When I take out my Intel Anypoint USB Networking Device, THEN the ipaq connects properly.

So I am aware that the connecting problems lays within the Intel Anypoint and Compaq Ipaq when hooked up together. I'm not sure how to fix this or why the Ipaq is unable to properly connect when the Intel Anypoint is connected.

I would really like both to be connected at the same time because I use Avantgo to download webpages to the Ipaq. Any suggestions or information would be great.

I have called Compaq and they can't help and neither can Intel... So I'm stuck.

I have a Dell XPSB800r if that helps. It's a PIII 800 with 256 RDRam running at 800Mghz and I've got plenty of HD space.

Thanks for any bumps, suggestions, or stories about this problem.

I remember parts of this problem, hopefully it's enough to get you going. The iPaq syn'c over an IP connection so the computer dishes up a unroutable IP on the pseudo interface which is the usb->ipaq connection. I ran into an issue before where I was using the same unroutable IP's behind my NAT. In this case I had the exact same problem as you as Windows was routing the iPaq data onto my home network instead of the computer->ipaq connection.

This sounds very similar to what your saying about it working when the Anypoint isn't connected. Are you getting a non routable from your gateway/server/whatever? If so, can you change the range to one of the other unroutable ranges (I switched to 10.0.0.x to clear the issue up).

Ummm... I'm not sure exactly what you mean. It sounds like you are right on the nail though. But I will ask around. If you read this again, I hope... can you clarify for me, a non literate computer person.

1. How do I find out if I am getting a non routable from my server?
2. And how do I change the range to one of the other unroutable ranges...?

sorry about not being so literate and thanks for the help in advance. if anyone can help, that would be great. it sounds like this thing will be figured out because Bill sounds like he's fixed this before... thanks
