Long time lurker so I thought I would share.

Staples have discontinued the Compaq MV740 and are selling them for 199 or less. (Michigan Staples, I checked 3 and got the same answer)

Add your favorite printable 40 off 200$ staples coupon to bring this down to 159$ + tax.


Compaq has a 150 MIR still valid for any MV model monitor good until July 02, 2002. (Must be sent in within 30 days of purchase)

Keep in mind the printable staples coupon expires 5/31. I went to staples today a picked up the monitor (Walled Lake, Mi. 2left) and they sold it to me for 159 without the coupon so good luck.

you seem to just have had really bad luck. I got my $150 rebate from Compaq within 3.5 months of sending it....

Not a one to be had at my Staples, not even a display

I got two @ COmpUSA last goround with this monitor so I'm not complaining one bit.

On the rebates from Compaq, so far since December I've gotten three back from them and all were in about 3 months time. Something must have been missing/wrong with your submission? I'm tracking my last two online with them and since sending the monitor rebates in they have been processed and will send the check any day. Pretty timely rebates for me.

Make sure you put it certified with return recipte.

They will email you once the rebate is processed. Even then it takes up to 2 week before they mail it.

I have my in the system.

Everything is a go for 450 Dollors. 3 monitor. Remember there is no limit per household.

My staples had only a display model without a box (so they claimed). So I didn't buy it. They were also talking about how the rebate wouldn't be honored if it was bought at that price. I thought to myself "WRONG!"

I called compaq rebate center and they said they would honor a floor model for the rebate. Of course I haven't seen it in writing so I wouldn't trust that to much.

I just spoke with Carol from Compaq rebates about this and she said the same thing. When I pressed her further she said the receipt would have to say something about the MV740 and it being an open box. When staples rings up an open box item that they cannot scan, doesn't it ring up in a 'general' category i.e. the receipt will not say MV740 nor open box.?

Worked for me. Got it for 159 less 30 & no tax (tax free day) and added 10.00 shipping.

So 139 and 150 rebate. Make 11.00 on this.

It is actually not a bad monitor at all. I just installed it and am quite impressed with it. Especially for the price.

Hey people...don't forget OfficeDepot too! They will SOMETIMES take competitors coupons too. GOOD LUCK on that though...the manager has to be mature enough to NOT take it personally... and that's RARE!
