Don't forget, if you're in the market for a digital camera, there is a $70 Canon MIR for any Canon PowerShot camera/PC purchase.

Yes - Blossom Hill Road, Stevens Creek Blvd, Aborn Square. Circulars for those stores are available online.
No - it's configure to order from in the store.

I hope I can upgrade to AMD Turion chip and 12-cell battery.
Anybody heard about that the wireless signal is not strong enough?

I got in the deal last time. I don't know if there is a 100 coupon for the turion this go around. I don't think that the wifi card has the best signal strength. I use mine on my home network, the signal is good here so it works for me. If I needed a stronger signal I for a road warrior I think a centrino lappy would work the best. The only complaint I have with mine is the battery life is bad. I did not upgrade the battery since I have power everywhere I want to use it 95 percent of the time. I am guessing maybe 1:30-1:45 on the battery life. I have not run it all the way down yet. This is a tool laptop. I upgraded to the ml-30 turion and have 1gig of ram thanks to best buy. It runs soldier of fortune at 800x600 resolution fairly well. It will runs through office apps no problem, power management is flawless. I have yet to see a bsod on this lappy.
Summary, nice price, nice screen, wifi signal not great, not bad either, battery sucks. Mine will cost after rebates 594.00 with all my upgrades. Not a bad deal. I think something from Dell configured about the same would be in the 750 range.

I got in on this deal when there was the free turion upgrade too. I have to disagree on the battery life. I upgraded to the 12 cell battery though, but it lasts me about 4 hours (though I haven't tested it yet). With my extra 12 cell I can get about 8 hours. Not bad if you ask me. I'm quite happy, although the wi-fi reception might be kinda poor. I don't really know where the networks are set up (college campus), so I don't know how far away they are, but I can usually find decent signal somewhere and then I'm fine.

Ok the we talked about this laptop in the previous thread. We should concentrate that what we can get this time i really want another one, so please some body can pass some coupons if there are any and, can we upgrade to AMD64 Athalon or Turion.
Did any body go to office depot and checked that, please inform as soon as possible.
Thanx

Oh by the way i love this laptop i have ML-30 with 1mb cache and 1gb pc2700, and it runs like a champ.
I agree with the people that battery life is too short 1:30 minutes the most with the standard one, but not bad for the price and it is light weigh around 4.5 pounds, and less than a 1.5 inch thick.

so what are the possible upgrades and prices, besides those that are listed in the OP ?
I'm thiking about getting the Turion, with wireless and extended battery. (i think I can find a better deal for the memory). Also I don't understand the DVD-ROM upgrade, what is the default drive ??

Lastly, what are the possible coupons for this deal ?

Purchased one of these from staples recenly and am very happy with it.

Regarding the wireless, I upgraded to the wireless/bluetooth combo and it sees more wireless networks than my desktop Dlink card or the Asante PC-Card used with my previous notebook.

Also, the 12-cell battery upgrade raises the back of the unit allowing improved airflow from the fan port & thus cooler operation.

The best thing to do is to go into an Office Depot and get on their Configure-to-Order computer and knock out the config you want.

If you just want to see configuration options prior to visiting Office Depot you can mess around here:

TechDepot CTO for CPQ V2000z

This looks EXACTLY like what you'll see when you go to Office Depot, however the pricing is different as you don't get all the good rebates!

Lastly, I strongly suggest you upgrade to one of the 5400 RPM hard drives. It's a small amount ($25 on mine) for a significant gain in performance.

I don;t see any upgrade of $25 for 5400rpm drive the one i see is $46. Do you guys think upgrading to ML32 1.8ghz with 512kb cache is better than ML30 1.6ghz with 1mb cache, and by increasing battery from 6 cell to 12 cells worth it.

thanks EricR, I didn't know about this link.
One last question : how easy is it to upgrade the memory ? $120 for 1gb may be a little bit too much.

Upgrading the RAM is easy.
Flip it over (turn it off first), unscrew 4 screws and slide the new RAM in. Just have to be sure the RAM is compatible since it is shared with the video memory. I put in a free AR 512 stick from BB, it took about 5 mins total.

Question: It says that it accepts Pc card slots. Is that Mini pci? How come I have no option for Pc card slots when searching newegg?

For anyone that cares about battery life, mine has the ML30 Turion, and the small battery. I timed the battery from fully charged to alarm. Surfing only, w/ MX 510 USB mouse. 2 hours and 5 minutes till the alarm at 5 percent battery left. I assume that if you were to watch a movie on a cd you might not make 2 hours. As always YMMV!

I got the OD deal last time with:

Compaq Presario V2000z $399.99
14.0 WXGA Brightview Widescreen (1280x768)
40 GB 4200 RPM Hard Drive
AMD Turion 64 ML-28 (1.6GHz/512KB L2 Cache) +$75.00
256 MB Memory (added the free BB 1x512MB)
ATI Radeon Xpress 200m w/productivity ports +$30.00
Wireless 802.11b/g + Bluetooth +$45.00
12 Cell Lithium Ion Battery +25.00 (Heavy and is uncomfortable for laptop use.)
HP Deskjet 3847 Printer (FREE)
$40 shipping

I used a Staples $30 off of $150 coupon at checkout

http://e.staples-deals.com/StaplesCoupo...0&c=2482293881638922&g=upuqp%FE&t=v%B0

for a total of at $484.99 after all rebates (No Oregon sales tax). Battery life is just under 6 hours with the 12 cell and light use (MS Excel, power management on and wireless off). Wifi picks up signals from store/hotel parking lots 4/5 bars.

If I could do it over again I would keep the 6 cell battery (-$25), upgrade to the AMD Turion 64 ML-30(1.6GHz/1MB L2 Cache) for an extra $25 and the 60GB 5400RPM hard drive for +$50.

I hope that $100 AMD64 rebate turns up this time.
