Dragracer. I spoke directly to the Tech dept at Staples who was able to recite the specs of the 1510T and he said that the tech manual CLEARLY stated it was 32mb DEDICATED video memory with the ATI Radeon.

I have a 1500US and this is the case with it (32mb ATI Radeon 7500). The 1500US also has USB 2.0 (The 1510T does as well) and firewire (the 1510T does not according the Tech dept. To me this is the ONLY downside to the 1510T.

Personally I love the 1500US I have and I got an excellent deal on it. I am going to take it back and order the 1510T instead though because I will end up with a laptop with a bigger/better screen, bigger HDD, faster Combo drive, longer life battery, and faster CPU for about $100 more than what I paid for the 1500US. It just makes sense to me!!

Excellent choice and if it's only $100 more, it's a no brainer. The 15.0" SXGA and higher capacity 66 WHr battery is a MUST HAVE!

I gave in and picked up a 1510T with 15" SXGA, 30GB HD and longer battery. I ordered there to use a $30 in-store coupon but it was a no-go with the salesdweeb (something about being dinged by mgmt. if he did so). The idiot looked at the breakup of parts on the screen and thought I was ordering them separately! Anyway, my order states that the scheduled delivery date is 12/02 but the manager said that these were assembled in Houston so I should receive them on Tuesday or Wednesday. Who's right?

Thank God I'm moving overseas soon for good and far, far away from the temptations on AT and FW.

anyone know the video specs on the 900Z? My roommate just ordered one... I think it came to $814 after rebates. He got the 1500+, 15", 256MB, DVD/CDRW combo.... he'd been looking for a laptop for a long time and I sent him this deal a few days ago Too bad I have no cash But I'm still curious as to whether the video portion of the 900Z is integrated or a separate-chip solution... I know for the cheap price it's probably integrated (SiS chipset I'm guessing? That's what my sister's Compaq (Duron 1.1) has) but I thought I'd ask anyway.

So the end result is you pay $322.60 - $99.76 (one instant coupon) = $222.84 + your local tax. THEN they will supply you with an $80 credit on your CC. Fortunately for us, Anandtech did a comprehensive review of the Presario 900 series.

I'm really not sure if the 900 or the 1500 series is the better value. It's kinda a toss-up.

If the 1500 has a Radeon 7500 GPU, then it probably wins the battle. As for the CPU, I would have thought the AMD outmuscles the mobile Celeron, but at a higher power consumption. The nice thing about AMD PowerNow vs. Intel SpeedStep is that PowerNow has 4 clock speeds, whereas SpeedStep runs at the full clock on AC power, and half clock on battery power. That's a significant downshift.

Presario 900Z owners reported no FireWire or infrared ports on their BTO models, and I believe the USB ports are USB 1.1, so apparently the 1500 series has a slight advantage here.

To quickly summarize the Anandtech review, the ATi Radeon IGP chipset with integrated GPU is no slouch, so on paper both these notebooks appear closely matched. If that's indeed the case, I would lean towards the Intel-based 1500 (whereas for desktops, AMD is usually the better value).

Several people have posted in my FW thread that Staples has a $100 MIR which starts tomorrow but the $300 coupon expires today.

It's possible you could buy today using the $300 coupon, then ask Staples to return your laptop and re-ring you a new receipt which would qualify you for the $100 Staples MIR and $20 Staples gift card.

As always YMMV.

Yes there is a $100 STAPLES rebate which starts tomorrow but the $300 Staples coupon expires today. The trick (if it's possible) is to buy TODAY using the $300 coupon then ask Staples to return and re-ring you a new receipt so you qualify for tomorrow's $100 Staples MIR.

Someone in ze4000 thread tried this long time ago, and I tried this today, and it works.

However, if you don't need xp pro, then it's useless.

I would just like to verify EXACTLY what the 1510T has on it (ie firewire or not) since there seems to be conflicting info floating around.

I just got my 1510T and in the manager it says 340M for the graphics card. This sucks. It does however have a firewire port. But somehow I don't think thats gonna even out the shitty gaphics card. Any idea on how we could get our money back? 3dmark2001 benchmark 1387

That sucks!! I should of went with the 2800T but I thought the 1510T was going to have the 7500 radeon in it. I'd like to return mine when I get it too........ Looks like Staples tech wasn't accurate. Darn!

Yep.. It's got USB 2.0. It's not hot at all. Been running it for 5 hours straight. But it still sucks without the radeon 7500. Damn it.
