compaq presario x1000 hard drive

this laptop came to me without a hdd,the connection is one i have never seen.
it is not reg.ide or sata.
when you put a ide drive or sata ,against it ,it is not even close to working.
i have the reg style adaptor.not even close.

That's odd. My dad has a Compac Presario R3000 and it has a regular IDE drive.

its ide..laptop ide is smaller.sometimes the laptop comes with another adaptor as well. it gets funky
