I want to build a new conroe machine (E6600), but I unfortunately jumped the gun and bought the ram before anything else because of a good deal, only to find out about all the problems people are having with this ram being incompatible with the new conroe mbs.

This is the link to the memory I bought, and hopefully someone can recommend me a 965 based motherboard that is compatible with it.

Thanks.

Thanks, I would really appreciate that. Maybe there will also be some bios updates for other MBs to make this memory compatible too.

it seems that out of the box almost nothing is compatable with it. Or rather the memory is not compatable with the motherboards. They use different chips than Corsair, Kingston, and Crucial which are the most compatable out there right now. Some people have luck booting with one stick of cheap memory and updating BIOS then changing the voltage to the required 2.1 volts of the OCZ and installing it then.

Well, I ended up buying a P5W DH, and have had no problems with it so far (knocks on wood). The default voltage was 1.8, so I upped it to 2.1, and set the correct timings and its working great.

What timings and speed are you running the ram at with this board?

I am interested too.

Gigabyte with chipsets 965P is not an issue with this memory.

I tried both DS4 and DQ6 with shipping bios F2 and they worked fine out of the box. For better overclocking experience, upgrade to bios F3 or F4 before tweaking.

Just one remark: this memory does not like anything above 1.95V or 2.0V Vdim.
Most people failing to overclock using this memory just puts more and more VDim, but in fact this Platinum kits needs less!!

For some reason people don't try less and go crazy trying to find what's wrong with their systems.

I can run the Platinum at FSB450 5-5-5 24/7 and Prime95 stable. Just don't give more than 0.15V (or 0.2V) on Vdim.

Not true, several other members here had sucess with Gigabyte boards - I can list them if you feel it's necessary. The enabler is keeping VDim under 2.0V. And this OCZ kits overclock well also, at least to 450FSB 5-5-5 at 1.95V.

That's a good overclock, considering the price and lower VDim needed.

I'm running Orthos at the moment and will post the screenshot tomorrow

it's getting more and more obvious that not the OCZ RAM but the boards are causing these issues....

with the p5w dh I'm running at 4-5-4-12 @ 2.1 V (which is what the RAM is rated for).

After some reasearch it seems that the GOLD is the bad one and the Platinum works ok. No idea specifically why, but most people report trouble with the OCZ Gold which is alot cheaper than the Plat.

I have also been waiting for the 590 for quite some time. Personally I am fed up with it. I have had my E6600 and my OCZ platinum 6400 RAM just sitting here and it is time to put them to work. I think I am going to get the P5NSLI like Snowice, if anything, to tied me over until the 590 comes out. Heck, I might even like it and decide to keep it for a while. All I can do is prey that I can get my RAM working.

this memory works fine with asus p5nsli as long as the dram voltage is set to 2.1v.
