Assuming they don't throw up after eating it, is it still a waste?
Also, and not to knock the idea of using food for constructive purposes, but here in CT we have a big push for limiting food waste going on (billboards etc.). Just our Stop & Shop grocery stores alone produce nearly 20 tons of food waste per day from "old, bruised, wilted, inedible rejects and left-overs" (although now those tons of food are being recycled instead of thrown in landfills)

So 20 tons of food waste daily just from one grocery store chain in one state in one country vs. someone who is actually eating a massive amount of food...meh.
Note that I am also not particularly in favor of killing for sport...imo if you're going to kill an animal, eat it, because it gave its life for you. I'm no vegan, but I do believe in treating animals with respect, especially since they produce so much food for us.
