How can you tell how many they have in stock?
Add it to your cart, change the Qty to a big number like 9999 then hit enter. You will see the following message:

Sorry! We cannot fill your order of 9999 units, but we can give you 406.

EDIT: They sold 100 in 12 hours.

That's a good review being it was created on May 22, 2002 ... Maybe I was a bit too harsh on this card? I did say it's a great card *back in it's time*... I guess maybe the reason why I don't think this is a good deal. I bought a GTS GForce 2 from newegg. It was when everyone was saying how great it was... Well, as soon as I paid about the same amount of $$ for that card the G3 was dropping in price fast. I guess I'd just hate to see anyone here spend 150 bucks just to enjoy it for a 3-6 months while prices for better cards come down to the same price as this one.

As for my stats on this card? Maximum PC had all the cards lined up and that is how I obtained my info.

GoodLuck to all who bought.

Doea that means you would like to pay 300 bucks to enjoy the 9700 for 12 monthes, since it will be bad in a year. Comparing to paying 150 to enjoy the 4600 for 6 monthes in your opinion(140 shipped actually). I dont see the kinda smoke-out-of-da-water differences between these 2 though, except for the AA and maybe directx9 area. Which are not the feature that most internet gamers are hyping for(well i mean, can you get more frag with AA on and 30fps less in critical area?).

I got a 9700 non-pro refurb for $159 from newegg last week.

I'm not sure why everyone is telling him a non DX9 ready card is a good suggestion when he mentioned Doom3 and HL2. The 4600s were great last year, but this guy is talking about playing games that are coming out in a few months, and you're telling him to buy a 1.5+ year old card? Not to mention for $150+. You can get 9700 non-pros for $205 NEW. And if you don't like Ati, you can get some great deals on the new Nvidia lines.

If you want to play Doom3 and HL2, for the love of god this is the wrong card to buy. That's a fact. People always talk about how video cards last 6 months, and everyone is telling him to grab a card that came out 18 months ago for the next generation of games. *lol*

Well, for what it's worth, I don't believe that either Doom 3 or HL 2 are going to use DirectX. I think that they both use OpenGL instead. And that said, from everything I've heard any GF4 Ti or better card should be able to play either game, if not with high end graphics. If you want that, you might as well plan on paying out the $$$ for a GFFX 5900 since I'm not sure even the 9800 will do them justice.

It most definitely is. Perhaps not at the highest detail levels, but my ti4200 runs the alpha leak quite alright, thank you very much.

Just to clear things up,

This card is reasonably fast and will run anything up to UT2k3 pretty well. It isn't designed for DOOM 3 with full details and rez hacked up, but can run DOOM 3 ok with low detail and acceptable rez. This thing beats the hell out of the FX5200 and is better than FX5600. So what if the FX series has DX9 support and pretty slow at that too, BTW the gaming industry is extremely slow at adapting new DX standards, DX9 won't be any different. I think it took about two years to get DX8 mainstream after its release. By the time DX9 has become mainstream, you might have a Geforce 6 or Radeon 15000. This thing is faster than a 9500 or 9500 pro with AA off, but its wiser to get an ATI 9500 or 9500 pro as you might be able to mod it to 9700 and OC to 9700 pro, or if you can't just OC it to higher to a super fast 9500 pro. It might be cheaper to to find a 9500 or 9500 pro refurb on newegg.

All that is being said that for 139 bucks..its a pretty good deal. Everyone is talking about DOOM this and HL that. I guarantee you that the gaming industry is not STUPID enough to release a game that the majority of the computers out there cant run. Will it run DOOM3 and HL2...YES...will it look decent...YES....will it run it at high resoultion with everything on...NO...But lets be honest...If you want to run it at high resolutions and all the details on high...u better be have the highest cpu and a lot of ram! Unfortuantly..I dont have a money tree out back =(. This card is cheaper than a 9500pro, 9600pro and is just below a 9700 non-pro..which cost at LEAST 70 bucks more. Both the 9500pro and 9600pro cost more...sure u can mod the 9500pro to 9700 speeds but thats a whole different subject in itself. Personally..if you are going to get a game just so u can play doom or hl or whatever...wait until the game is out and then buy the card...I'm sure all these prices will drop....

Listen, the bottom line is this:

Unless your running an S3 Virge, than wait a couple months and buy a newer card. This isn't a bad card, however it IS old at this point. It's old technology, and IMHO it's not worth 139$. It has no longevity, it's at the end of it's run.

Unless your using intel onboard eXtreme graphics or something super, super crappy, then I would say wait.

If you cant wait spend another 60$ and get a 9700

You must not understand how the 9800 and 5900 stack up, huh?

I hope no one ordered one of these. I got mine today and I am getting artifacts from the moment I turn on the computer. I am calling them in the morning and returning the card. I hope they don't give me any problem about returning the card.

What other cards out there today are better than GF4?? I can only think of a few..
Radeon9700/9800Pro, GeFroce FX 5800/5900 Ultra..and what's the price tag on those cards??

What about R9500Pro and FX 5600 Ultra?? They are slower than GF4 w/o FSAA and Antistropics..
when FSAA and Antistropics are enabled..the frame rate simply isn't enough for most newer games...

$140 for Ti4600 or $100 for Ti4200 which can be had on the forsale/for trade forum pretty easy..
I think they are stil quite attractive...

The only question is, what's the quality on those MSI RMAed cards..

That was an alpha and does not really represent how the game will really perform. Don't forget, Doom 3 is also supposed to have an Xbox port which only has a GF3.

I got in on this deal and think it was an awsome price.
My card got in last week and I've been playing games I never could with my mx460.
I still have trouble with battlefield but I think it's a motherboard issue.
The card comes with a whole bunch of games and cables and has been working flawlessly for me.

I do feel sorry for Ambrosius01 and Falconx80 that they got something DOA instead of a working MSI GF4 Ti4600. Everybody who has ordered this "Refurbed" card know the risk they're running into, and IT IS EXTREMELY RISKY because of the nature of the "Refurbed", i.e you ARE MORE LIKELY TO GET some crap that is sold as a video card. But for the people who has ordered this card and still waiting, keep praying, may be you'll get lucky as I do. I've ordered and got a BRAND NEW MSI GF4 Ti4600 instead of a refurbed one. May be it is still a refurbed one but the package does NOT looked "refurbed" to me at all (the retail box looked new to me, the anti-static bag looked new to me and the card also looked new to me, at least I think I could distinguish a brand new and a "refurbed" card based on the condition of the discrete components of the card). Anyhow, in my case, just plug it in and it works like a champ. Like somebody's saying it looks like a MSI GF4 Ti4600, it runs like a MSI GF4 Ti4600, it IS a MSI GF4 Ti4600. The only question I have is HOW LONG WOULD IT RUN?
