i got this drive it only works on master slave and if it breaks good luck the service department emailed me in fricken japanese..hahahah! it works though also has direct memory acces (DMA) plays dvd's fine good post

I placed an order for one. Can anyone recommend a good software decoder? I thought I'd test it with my system first before deciding if I need a Hollywood Plus. I'm running a Celeron 466 (MyFavoritePC deal), 160MB RAM, and Voodoo3 3000 (says it has DVD hardware assist, whatever that means). Are these specs sufficient to run on software decoding? Thanx

EDIT: If this drive only works under primary slave, will that cause buffer underruns in my CD-RW? I currently have a 50x CD-ROM in secondary master and a 8x CD-RW in primary slave, but would replace the 50X with the DVD drive.
