1973
i have a nice partial soundboard of this show
You lucky DOG you!
Yes, I believe that was the one but after all, it was the 70's....
We could hear the music a half-mile away as we walked there - it was surreal. The place was packed and I barely remember the first acts except for Lee Michaels who was pretty good. Use to go to Winterland in 1973 and saw a number of groups. The next time I saw them was in Chicago three or so years later and was able to take some pictures which many seem out of focus...
The other big concert I saw was ZZ Top's BBQ down in Austin ("ZZ Top?s First Annual Texas-Size Rompin? Stompin? Barndance and Bar-B-Q.? Also on the bill were Santana, Joe Cocker, and Bad Company") AND THAT WAS A GREAT TIME TOO!
But I had worked concerts in San Antonio from 74-75, so I saw a lot of groups from both sides of the stage....and afterwards. However, Led Zeppelin has been my favorite since their first album came out and I bought the first copy as they were putting it on the shelf at Discount Records in Champaign in January 1969!
Anyway, I digress as usual. I just hate that I missed this deal as I have most of their CD's but since my son took a liking to them and borrowed them, most are scratched up and unplayable...and the 33 1/3 RPM albumns just don't sound as good anymore...
Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
