Preface:
I'm a little crazy. I get anxious about future problems that may not happen at all. BUT if I can imagine an out to a worst case scenario I can get over it.
The story:
I'm moving into a house in a couple months, my first house. One of the main reasons is to avoid all the noise that pollutes apartment complexes. I value my sleep a lot (probably too much) and grew up out in the boonies where it was dead quiet at night.
OK, I use earplugs all the time so do not recommend them.
Worst case scenario:
The neighbors dog barks like crazy all through the night. I have a fairly big lot (big for the area, .33 acres) and am probably 50 feet from said dog.
The question!
Is it possible to completely soundproof my bedroom if need be? Would a second drywall layer on the back wall and fancy-shmancy soundproof window plus earplugs make it so I wouldn't hear even the loudest dog?
I know this is a dumb question, and I know I'll get flamed. But it helps me sleep at night (literally) to know that if it does happen, and the owner is unreasonable, I have an out other than moving (albeit expensive).
Thanks ATOT!!!!
