I was looking to get a general feel from this community on your go-to component brands, in terms of "I'd prefer this(these) brands over others"
And then create a "I won't buy this brand for components ever ever ever."
I'm sure a lot of this will be biased by personal stories, but hey, even stereotypes have a basis, however mildly, in truth, or at least something approximating truth. (See my monitor choice below)
For instance:
Motherboards
Asus, yes.
ASRock, no.
Vid cards
EVGA, yes.
MSI, probably not, going forward.
Memory
G.Skill, Crucial, yes.
Kingston, no.
HDDs
WD, yes.
Seagate, no.
SSDs
Crucial, Intel, Samsung, yes.
OCZ, no.
AData is piquing my interest.
Power supplies
Seasonic, yes
SDHC cards (I feel like having a preference at all in this category is just weird.)
Wintec, yes.
Sandisk, no.
Monitors?
I have a fetish for Dell Ultrasharps. (currently a U3011)
And then there are some things I don't really see the value in premium branding.
Razer? I'm happy with M$/Logitech input devices, thanks.
Cases? I've yet to see a case that is just so good, but then again, once my system is built, the less I have to crack it open, the better.
Fans? I haven't found any brand to be noticeable better or worse than others, but I have a weird leaning towards Silenx.
Heatsinks? see fans, and Scythe.
