Component Cables for the Wii

Hello guys,

Curious if you can help!

I got a Wii for a gift and received the component cables add on with it... however it's not made by Nintendo, it's made by a company called PSYCLONE and it's a universal one that has 3 plug ins. One for the XBOX360, one for the PS3 and one for the Wii...

Are all component cables going to render "the same" picture quality? Or should I go get the official Nintendo one?

Am also curious if the fact that it's a universal one that has plugs for XBOX360 and PS3 affects the quality of the pics.. thanks!

The Wii can output 480p max, and thats just not enough signal to push even the crappiest of cables. Unless theyre really, really, really crappy, you wont notice any difference.

FWIW, I use a set of $10 component cables, and it looks perfect. I wouldnt totally cheap out on cables to push 720p+, but at 480p, don't worry about it.

I forget which website did the comparison, but what I gathered is just about any cable can do 1080p at 6' lengths or less. So, for 480p, anything will do.

Much like the wattage on a PSU, video cables are extremely overrated. Having a properly calibrated screen has much more to do with PQ than cable quality.
