On the World Community Grid site, there's an "Anandtech" team with 88 members and a "Team AnandTech" team with 49 members. Which one is the right one?

This is somewhat off-topic for this thread, but I hope that op and others do not mind if I answer the question:

The correct name is "TeAm AnandTech". I have tried several times to contact the captain of "Anandtech" to ask him to change the name, but I was not successful. Therefore we founded a new team, "TeAm AnandTech".

In the future we hope to combine the teams. Since WCG does not allow that in an easy way, we hope to persuade all the crunchers in "Anandtech" to join "TeAm AnandTech"

The reason for this are the stats. Since in almost all projects the team's name is "TeAm AnandTech" all the stats are combined inte a "Combined BOINC" stats and we are #16 among all teams in the world. Anandtech is #966. We figured that combining all the BOINC-stats would increase our standing and it did.

If you plan to join, please join "TeAm AnandTech". In that way your crunching will help the team in several ways ...

End off topic ...

The "Sticky"-period has run out. I have asked the admins to sticky this thread again - apparently this has worked.

Thanks a lot, admins!

It looks like the new forums really messed up the formatting of the list. As soon as I have enough free time, I'll try to get it fixed.

11/10/2009: Updated formatting for vBulletin forums. Removed all of the old update notes and processing times for my old CPU since they were irrelevant and vBulletin said that the post was too long. Updated a lot of old projects (I didn't make a list, sorry) to show their closed status. Added Anansi, EDGeS@Home, NFS@Home, and PicEvolvr.com.

May I ask for another update:

it would be useful if we had 2 lists: the first with the active projets from A to Z and a second with the closed/suspended/... projects

Thanks

I had considered making two separate lists at one point. I can do that if enough people want me to change it. I don't know how it shows up in other browsers (I assume it would be the same) but in IE and Firefox, just look for bold text. The only bold text in the list is highlighting the status for open/active projects.

RNA World is a new project that is not accepting new users yet. With only 42 different team founders crunching the beta WUs, the server was brought to its knees.

Conceptually, the project makes a lot of sense, so let's keep an eye on it for future crunches.

Hi Fardringle,
I do not know if you note special requirements of the projetcs. Here is one morsel of info, anyhow:
EDGeS@Home needs large amounts of RAM if your processor has multiple cores and/or two threads/core. For each core EDGeS needs from 175 Mbyte to 399 Mbyte RAM; with 8 threads this amounts to anyting from 1.4Gbyte to 3.2Gbyte RAM available to BOINC. If you have less, a lot of swapping slows trhe computer down and may also lock it for a few seconds - a minute.

haven't seen these before,
but, i could be wrong

http://www.nicoschlitter.de/DistributedDataMining
"distributedDataMining (dDM) is the name of a research project that uses Internet-connected computers to perform research in the various fields of Data Analysis and Machine Learning. The project uses the Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing (BOINC) for the distribution of research related tasks to several computers"

http://94.23.23.123/wuproj/
"WUProp@home is a non-intensive project that uses Internet-connected computers to collect workunits properties of BOINC projets such as computation time, memory requirements, checkpointing interval or report limit."

DNETC@Home
http://dnetc.net/index.php

"DNETC@Home is a wrapper between BOINC and distributed.net."

It's strictly a GPU project for ATI and CUDA cards (not sure about the exact requirements).
