AQUA@Home has some problems of releasing threads and cores after crunching. Read more here! The problem is not yet solved.

I was noticing this, but i assumed it was a boinc problem.

I was switching from aqua to einstien when i noticed this on quite a few of my machines... some of the machines, the problem went away, some didn't... i'll check again in the morning.

DNETC.net is down for indeterminate time for judicial reasons.

From BOINCstats-forums:

Server is evidence in the investigation of p2p (I know it's ridiculous). Someone thought that we had a torrent tracker on the server. Now police are looking for pirated Windows ect between DNETC workunits.
As soon as we get our server back project will back online.

For the active project list on page 1 of this thread, could the owner/moderator add on whether the project requires single precision or double precision computation please? Knowing SP vs. DP will affect what GPUs are purchased for crunching projects.

Hi all, fairly new to DC and joined the AT team! Is there any beginner tips/advice I can get? I know it's a general question but I'm not really sure where to start!

I was thinking of setting up my laptop at home as a dedicated cruncher. It runs a Intel Core 2 Duo (2.4ghz I believe?) with Integrated Graphics.

keep a close eye on your CPU temps (and GPU temps if you so choose to crunch on that as well). some projects stress the CPU much more than others, and laptops are not known for having great cooling or ventilation...so you'll want monitor your temps closely at first...

No, jime1, not in the projects most of us are running.
No, not in the most of all projects. There are very few projects which pay in one form or the other, but they ususaly die because of lack of contributors.
DC is volunteer computing or citizen science contribution.

Most of us do it for fun, competition, computer knowledge (how to get the most out of our new, or very often aging, boxes) and the community.

And: 3 333 000 contrubutors can not be wrong, can they?
