Wieferich@Home v.2.0

Wieferich@home is a scientific experiment that uses Internet-connected computers in the Search for next Wieferich and Near-Wieferich primes. You can participate by running a free application or screensaver that seeks Wieferich primes. Application has implemented optimal algorithms for systematic seeking the next Wieferich prime. Wieferich@home is a screen-saver or application that uses your computer's idle time to seek Wieferich primes. We want to find the third Wieferich prime and new Near-Wieferich primes.

• Proprietary client - MS Windows 95,98,NT,2000,XP,VISTA only.
  Multicore support.
  Screensaver.

No TeAm Anandtech exists as of this writing. I have not yet tried it.

Update on XtremeLab from their website:

XtremLab is a BOINC project for measuring the free resources available on personal computers involved in large-scale distributed computing. Ultimately, these measurements will be used to improve the design and implementation of current systems, such as BOINC.
The project has been able to monitor 32,000 nodes in 18 months. From this experiment we have collected and analyzed more than 17 millions results. Our trace collection software support Linux and most Windows versions (but not Windows ME or 9*).

Our project is actually stopped and not collecting new traces. No data nor accounts have been deleted. Statistics are still being exported to statistics websites. (Your credits are still advertised) We may resume the project with a new version of the application in the future.

ORBIT@HOME update!!!!

FINALLY! Maybe this project may actually get off the ground, I sure hope so...I am jazzed about this one!

First - I had an account registered for quite some time now, but had to re-register, re-create our Team-SciFi team, all of that. They have a new URL: http://orbit.psi.edu/oah/

They are accepting registrations, and I hope they can start getting WUs out soon!

I had the main SZTAKI project. The one I added is their test system that's separate from the main project.

I'll add the Wieferich project and the update to XtremLab later today or tomorrow.

I did some poking around on their site and as far as I can tell, the Wieferich@Home project uses their own stand-alone client and not the BOINC system. If I'm mistaken, which is entirely possible, please let me know since I was not able to find any way to join or attach a system to the project using a BOINC client.


Thanks for the info on the Harvard project team, Phoenix2. For some reason, I cannot log in to any account on their site on multiple different computers. I created a new account with a different email address than my standard BOINC account and got the same results so I am unable to join a team or even search for a link to the team for the list. If anyone can give me a link to the team page I would appreciate it.


I updated the status on XtremLab to show that they are not processing work until further notice. Orbit@home link and status are updated. I added the new URL for Superlink@Technion.

Thank you for the reminder on the status of the Hydrogen project, Phoenix2. The erroneous MilkyWay entry was a left over bit from a few months ago when the whole list was corrupted and project entries were combined with each other. I missed that one when I fixed the rest of the list but it's gone now.
