what they do is allow people to line up for these deals for hours and people that actually show up at the time of the sale are already screwed.

nothing there looks impressive enough to even bother with this deal. I hate MIR unless it's something really expensive for darn near free. Otherwise, it's not worth the hassle. $15 MIR? pashaw! puhleeze.. that means I'm going to spend 3-6 hours on the phone over the course of a week or two so some lazy ahole can finally get around to mailing me back my rebate even they do decide to do it. My time for that is worth more then a crappy $15.

I feel the same way.

However, CompUSA often has a bunch of things at attractive prices in these kinds of sales that are not advertised. It's a hit or miss kinda thing.

WOW, I can't believe how they jacked up the price on that low end Envision 17" CRT. $170 is an outrageous retail price. The exact same monitor is currently $120 at Staples and even that is high. Even the Viewsonics are cheaper at retail price. They should have sold it with one instant $50 and one $50 MIR at least.

Some of the other sale items are not bad. The Netgear 802.11b stuff for $4.99 AR and the 246MB Sandisk thumb drive for $20 are nice. Guess I'll have to stop by there to pick a few things up (their loss leaders of course).

From the reviews I've seen on this, the TV has good quality for the price (@ $1000) and it being $699 now is great. However, the MIR is a major pain. MANY people didn't get their rebates from Syntax and if they did it was 3-5 months later.

Question though (and maybe you can link me to another post)....Is HDTV good to get right now?? Is it worth the extra cost??
