"Funny I thought that Optorite was the same type of company as Hival and I/O Magic in that they actually use "Sanyo guts" in their burners."

Yea I guess Plextor sure was stupid to use Sanyo optical drives in their CD burners for years. Look what it did to their reputation. I guess Sanyo must of just got lucky when they invented Burn Proof and more recently HD-BURN.

Looks interesting. I wonder if the extra competition from the new Tiger store in town will help their attitude. BTW does Tiger have and BF sales?

I was the 20th person in line at the Knoville, TN store. The Comp USA Employees came out and started at the front of the lone and handed out vouchers for the items, and you had to form another line once inside to wait while they got your items. THen you had to hold onto the items and vouchers in order to check out. It was kind of a pain on the a$$ but I got these deals:

Sandisk Cruiser 256MB USB Flash Drive (They only had 50 of these)
Hi-Val DVD +/- DVDRW (there only have 60 of these)
160GB Harddrive (THe only had 40 of these)
60GB USB 2.0 External HardDrive (They only had 6 of these - yes 6 (six)).

Woot!!!

Bleh, I was a little disappointed in the sale. I didn't see much in the ad that I wanted except the 256MB USB drive, but I thought some other stuff would be clearanced, too. I think I'm going to tape the laptop reservation flyer I have to the window.

I went to the White Plains, NY store at 5:10pm. Line was around the corner of the store.

The lady was taking orders for the laptop, missed out by 3 ppl. Everyone rushed the laptop department and nobody knew what the hell was going on. The line for the counter was insane. I just grabbed a few things and left.

Fuji 10pack CDR - rebate OK
60GB external drive - rebate OK
HP 4x6 photo glossy paper - rebate OK
Dazzle DV clip with firewire card - $20 promo # 0006171 OK
$20 promo # 0006172 problem - "3. The original user's manual title page from a previous full retail version of any qualifying software title, or the qualifying software title's CD. .... To qualify for the $20 competitor rebate you must be a licensed user of a full retail version of one ofhte following products: Roxio Videowave movie creator, nova developemnt video explosion delux, riverdeep interactive movieshop, extreme digital studio, sony screenblast movie studio or ulead videostudio." So this rebate won't work. Sucks, back to cRap USA

Art Explosion Seasons, Events & Holidays - $15 rebate ok, $10 rebate on box - requires original UPC. Plus it's really ghetto.. they want you to mail in a 3x5 index card with the info on it. Screw that.

Better luck on Friday.

The only thing I was interested in was the 256MB USB 2.0 Flash Drive. I got it, took it home and started to fill out the rebate form...when I noticed that the rebate was for $10...NOT the $20 as stated in the ad. Got a call into CompUSSR right now...I want my other $10!!!

Check your Rebate slip! Demand the advertised price!!!

EDIT: NM!!! I looked at the receipt, the drive is selling for $39.99 without rebate...a $10 rebate brings it to advertised price...even better, only gotta wait for $10 back by mail...Instant rebate was $30!

Got there at 5:30, was way back in line so I thought I would miss all the good stuff.
Stuck around for a couple hours til the crowd was gone, watched movies, and then went to check out. Found out they still had PC's...got one. Checked out at corporate and they charged me for the laptop instead of the desktop. Got out to the car and read the receipt, went back in and the gave me a laptop the pulled fromsome secret stock! So they charged me for the desktop and gave me the laptop. Then when I got home, I realized I forgot that whole list of far that you could get for buying a pc. Still walked out with a lot of stuff.
Scored HP Laptop
Compaq Desktop PC
Belkin router
Belkin PC Card
Belkin USB
Epson c84 printer and free dvd player
Had a 160 Gig Seagate -but I put it back....gonna wait for Bestbuy and officemax on Friday for the 120GB for older machines without a new controller.
60 Gig USB External

Not quite as good as Snedman, but still nice

Iomega= Hi Val, if I'm remember right.
Heh-heh. That's I/O Magic, not Iomega. Now that I think about it, they probably chose the name I/O Magic to sponge off the Iomega brand name.

Bastards!!! They only gave me the $20 Instant Rebate and the damn Mail-in Rebate for is only for $10. I'm going back on Friday and Demand $10 right then or I'll call all the local news stations and have them do a report on fraud.
