Is there anything special to look for when buying a DVD drive? I know someone said that this was a decent one (quiet) but are they all pretty much alike? Any sites that you know of where I should read up on them?

The BUSLink 16x10x40x at BB for $59.99 after MIR and IR is probably a better deal. I believe they are both rebadged Lite-Ons.

I had aol for 4 years by going to a store with the 1000 hours free, or 1 month free, and never payed a dime...i had a friend who had aol make me an account, so i had a stable Email

The Norton $30 rebate is with proof of any Norton or Mcafee software. In fact, you can even get it if your machine was pre-loaded with a trial version of Norton Antivirus. The McAfee rebate is a bit more restrictive and you need to read the rebate form to decide if you qualify. I was going to pick up a copy Saturday and price match it later in the week but I realized it's Guard Dog repackaged and the last time I installed Guard Dog it trashed my system so badly that I actually asked Beyond.com to refund my money (it was a download), even though it would have been free after rebate! BTW, my download purchase confirmation would qualify for the McAfee upgrade rebate, too.

Did anyone else get the 100 Imation CD-Rs for $9.95 after rebate? According to the add you send in 2 rebate forms (one for $8 and one for $4) for each 20 pack of CD-Rs (10 rebates in all). But the rebate forms say send in all 5 UPCs with one rebate form and a copy of all 5 for the other. So you only get 1 of each rebate instead of 5 for a total of $12 instead of $60 making the total $58 for 100 CD-Rs not $10! I saw it before leaving the store and talked to the manager who insists she will email me the right forms this morning OR pay me the difference. Anybody find different forms or get told anything else?

I bought the EPO 16x DVD from Compusa a couple of weeks ago in their last rebate cycle. I have a terrible time reading burnt CDR/CDRWs with it. Would have returned it if I hadn't already cut off the UPC for the rebate. I regret buying it and regard it as a POS.

Mine was a rebadged CTX also. Haven't tried any DVDs in it.

If so I have two questions:

Can you open it up and put in a larger hard drive?
And is the power supply internal, i.e no brick?

I've seen that Imation form before (I think that Outpost had a similar offer a while ago) and I believe that you can get 5 rebates for each of the offers, which makes the rebate total equal what they said it does. I am not sure if you have to send in one form for each of the packs (put all 5 in a single envelope) or if they will notice that you've bought multiple copies but if you read the fine print this should be clear.
