I should have been faster on the checkout button. I guess it was not destined to happen. Oh well. I will check our local store in the morning but I am sure the shelf will be empty.

Wow 2 hours later they still had one of the 6800s left. I guess most people were there for the freebies/near freebies and not something that's $200.

They are still showing in stock at all 4 of the stores near me. Wonder how valid that is.

I had to ask for the 6800. The manager was putting up the sign for it but they were all locked behind the counter. I saw a few people in line going for the Motorola wireless card and router.

CompUSA employees fed us Doughnuts while we waited in line here in Mesa, AZ.

Yeah, at 5:30 this morning about 15 CompUSA employees walked out into the parking lot in front of the store. We all joked and agreed that they were going on strike. Much to our suprise they pulled out about 40 dozen Dunkin Doughnuts boxes and began to hand them out to us chilly people waiting in line for an hour or two already. That was what I call customer service and beyond.

Anyway, i was 30th in line and the first person to get the PNY GeForce 6800. Everyone else was there for other goodies.
Now time to install this baby and see what Half-Life 2 really looks like.

They opened the store at 5:50 for us. They had several 6800's left. Everyone was buying the 60 gig maxtor drives for $29.

i ordered the 6800 at 12:18am 11/26 eastern time on the web... the price was still 299, figuredthey would adjust because they didn't have the site updated yet... i just got the verification that states that i ordered and they are filling, at 299, with a timestamp of 11:18pm 11/25 central time... i'm trying to call their support line, but it says that they are off for the holidays... sheesh...

and the 'see what they've got' droid gets updated at midnight... so it says there's stock, but if u can get to a person in the store they'll be telling u there r none...

I got to CompUSA @ 5:00 AM, 25 people in head of me. I was getting paranoid because I was thinking everyone wanted the 60GB H.D. When I finally got in the store, (they let us in 10 minutes early) I asked the clerk for the$29.00 H.D. He proceeded to walk in the back room and check the stock of the product. He said they did not have any of the 60GB's left----BUT since we do not have any of the 60GB's left, we will let you have the 80GB and honor the same price as the 60GB. Overall, I would say it was a good experience and I do not regret waking up at 4:30 A.M.

Picked up a 6800 as well. Plenty of them left too. People were mostly buying junk. Almost was tempted to buy that MS cordless mouse for $7.99 out the door. My store was subbing 80GB drives for 60GB ones, which makes the deal average hot. $30 for 60GB seems pretty tepid, but people were snatching it up like it was free pr0n.

Just got back from compusa, and snagged the last PNY 6800.

Had just exchanged a flaky BFG 6800OC this morning at best buy, and just returned the shrink wrapped exchanged one at lunch.

The best Buy 6800OC was $299 but included Far Cry($29).. so $270 wasn't bad, but wasnt great either.
Go tired of waiting for the $250 6800's to be in stock again, and had bonus money buring a hole in my pocket.

BUT $229 out the door for the PNY, with a $30 MIR to go. WOOHOO. I might not even pick up FarCry again, unless i can find it at EB used.

$100 saving w/out Farcry
$80 saving with used Farcry

gotta love Anandtech around Black Friday...

I was at the Manhattan Cr@pUSA on 57th and Broadway and it was pretty quiet at 830 this morning.
Well, there was a crowd, but it wasnt like we were elbowing each other to get to the merchandise.
I headed straight for the GF 6800 and I saw that some people had already ransacked the shelf.
When I asked the guy to check for more, he directed me to a line to stand in so that I could ask those people in the back to look for it.
20 minutes later, I finally get to speak with the cashier lady and she had no idea what I was talking about so she asked me to write it down so that she could look for it.
I was shocked when she came out with a 6800, but it was the 6800 GT OC.
Not having >200 bux on me, I left empty handed

Those 1 GB flash memory drives were completely gone too, and there were 4 empty hanging racks labelled for them too!
I didnt think I would miss out on THAT much 2.5 hours after opening, but people completely raided the place. I think the only worthwhile thing that was left over was the antec sonata case. but thats because no one would want to lug that thing around on the subway.
