I wish my local store would close so I could maybe score a few hot deals. I stopped shopping at CUSA many years ago, horrible service, bad experiences with rebates, items never in stock, etc. Good riddance.

I'm shocked. CUSA was a great place to go for small items or when "3 day shipping" from e-tailers was not soon enough. So much for that 3 minute drive up the street.

Guess I'll be going to Fry's exclusively for brick-and-mortar purchases.

I just checked my local CompUSA and it is not showing up on the site. I called with the intent to ask if they were liquidating and got the floor manager. When I told him they no longer showed up on CompUSA's site he got pretty upset about it - I guess they just made the decision on the Alexandria, VA one this afternoon (and hadn't told them yet).

He ended the call pretty quickly by thanking me for the information and saying they probably would be having a liquidation.

DDDDAAAAAAAAMMMMNNNNN, that's pretty fvcked up to learn that you're going to get fired from some random customer.

I work for a major supermarket chain and am involved in the mechanics of opening/closing stores although I'm not involved in the process of deciding which stores get the axe. The suits once made a decision on Friday afternoon to close a store following the weekend and they told NOBODY. The employees found out they had lost their jobs when they showed up for work Monday morning. If I had been one of those employees I would have killed somebody

as with the last "liquidation", they will mark prices up before they mark them down. they will go in stages - first 5% to 15%off, 20% 30% and so on, all the way up to 80%. the apples will be the first "good" deals @ around 15% off (if any of them are left at that point). Everything else will start to look good around 50%(i.e, slightly less than the best deal you'll find online). By that time the shelves will be somewhat bare due to all the idiots who think they're getting good deals just because they see a sign that says "30% off"

The newest Portland, OR CUSA won't make it

Neither will Clackamas. Luckily we'll still have two in the metro area.

Just bought a razer exactmat from clakamas location for $40 weeks ago, a little less than newegg + shipping

Yep, I just bought two PCs from them last month, and three Zalman heatsinks last week. They are cheaper than Newegg with rebates factored in (luckily their online rebate system is a cinch).

Phew! The one near Columbus Circle in Manhattan is still there. It's very conveniently located for me (on the way to a lot of stuff like and family).

I almost totally quit buying at Comp USSR in 2000 when they were bought out by a Mexican corporation (grupo Carso). I have enough better options (newegg among others) that I can choose where I spend my $$. (I also go out of my way NOT to buy anything Made in China, but in this hobby, I have virtually no options there)

We have 2 stores near me in North Jersey (East Hanover, Parippany)... now the closest is Manhattan,NY

There were one in Springfield too... all gone.

Yeah, Each one of those stores is a 5 min drive from my house. I didnt shop there much, but it was always nice to have a place nearby for quick stuff.

Went by the Airport Way, Portland, OR location. Looked to be business as usual there. No looks of impending doom on the employees faces and nothing indicating that the store was to be liquidated.

Ouch this sucks. I bought a pair of headphones there recently with the extended warranty. Will CompUSA still allow me to replace the headphones via mail if they break within the next year?

They're closing every store in MN. I can't say I shopped their often, but my buddy did get a 250GB drive for $60 AR a couple months ago, which ain't too shabby. So has anybody actually gone and checked out the closeout deals? I was thinking of checking it out myself, but really not sure I want to go out in the cold just to see a bunch of overpriced stuff.
