Curious about the Olympus C5050 Camera - normally $699 but down to $549. I just want to make sure that (a) there are no catches, and (b) there isn't a C6050 coming out next week. Anyone seen anything on this one?

does compusa have that policy where if you buy a week before, and now their price is 10bucks less, you can bring in the receipt and get the 10bucks refunded?

This is concerning that 17" monitor...I already cut it up and sent in the rebates, but now their instant savings is 10dollars more than it was last week.

Bleh... not when it's friggin 1X DVD media... ICK. I just picked up some Memorex (Ricoh) -Rs (you could get +Rs if you wanted) from OD AC... $50 for 2x25pk spindle. 4X media. CUSA even had a 40% off all Memorex media a short while ago in another unadvertised special. Check CD/DVD media thread.

Don't know if it's going to be eclipsed by another model but FYI the Olympus 5050 ($620 street price) rated at the top of the 5 megapixel cameras just below the Nikon 5700 ($890 street price)) in November's Consumer Reports magazine.

They also have camcorders rated in the November issue of CR

BUT, they also have a policy which allows them... at their discretion to not allow you to get the new lower price if it is a "promotional" price or a "one-time sale." In other words, return and rebuy doesn't work for CUSA.

Well "return and rebuy" worked for me. I bought the last pioneer A06 DVD+/- R writer at my Cusa the night before the sale and returned and rebought it the next day @ $179. I had them reprint out the the $20 rebate slip since the one from the night before expired on 11/02. I popped the writer into a Belkin external USB2 shell that I had bought @ Cusa about 6m ago for 40 bucks. Works great. Burned a backup of a DVD movie I had on the cheap Cusa DVD-R media they had on sale (a 25piece spindle for $20). Played fine on my APEX AD1500 DVD player.

I had a 5050 and it is an excellent camera. I wish my Digital Rebel was built half as well.
