Pavlov trained his dogs to salivate when the dinner bell was rung. A cat can be trained to play ping pong with his paws. A hamster can be trained to run through a maze. Why is it that Anandtechers can't be trained to avoid these CrapUSA one day sales? Every one it's the same thing, a bunch of whiners complaining about how bad the last dozen have been, yet staying glued to their monitors so they can be the first hit when the new one starts. Then it's right back in here to complain about how bad it is and to start anxiously awaiting the next one. Exactly what will it take to get you to learn?

But it would be more interesting that the CompUSA "sale" regardless.

We should just unify them and call them mices. That would screw everything up, and we would be at the root of it.

:evil laugh: heh.. heh.. hehhhh.

ahh, they tried charging me 2 grand for teh mice. The credit card company called me up and are like unusual activity. And im like holey s**t. They tried charging me 25 a mouse. Man, i cant imagine people who actually had the cash. They already charged me my 1.05. I think they could have some major torubly if they decide to charge poeple 2500 without permission. Luckely i have a paypal masterdard and only $40 in the account so it was automatically declined.

Hamsters, Cats and Dogs, all those have a certain intelligence to work with.

This says much about Ananltechers who shop at ConUSA, doesn't it?

Ordered one. I'll try and get them to drop the price back to the original $19.99. If they do, I might pick up 2 more.

Thanks!

Nothing on mine yet, although I did put a note online to Customer Service at Sears MC about this, and asked them in advance to dispute the charge if ConUSArtists decided that they wouldn't honor their prices and charged a $1000 charge to my account (which would be dangerous for me since my credit line isn't even $1000)...

Yup...just got the email myself.

I personally don't buy the "it's a price mistake and we can't fulfill it"....IMHO, it was more of a "Sheeeeeez, look at all of these orders we have to fulfil on this. We're going to lose our shirts! I know, let's just call it a price mistake and cancel everybody's"

I've already stopped doing CrapUSA's mail in rebates since they're so unreliable...I guess I have to chalk up their promotional items on the web as "good only if we don't get a lot of orders" pricing.

ompUSA:

Please refer to California Business and Professions Code Section 17500:

17500. It is unlawful for any person, firm, corporation or
association, or any employee thereof with intent directly or
indirectly to dispose of real or personal property or to perform
services, professional or otherwise, or anything of any nature
whatsoever or to induce the public to enter into any obligation
relating thereto, to make or disseminate or cause to be made or
disseminated before the public in this state, or to make or
disseminate or cause to be made or disseminated from this state
before the public in any state, in any newspaper or other
publication, or any advertising device, or by public outcry or
proclamation, or in any other manner or means whatever, including
over the Internet, any statement, concerning that real or personal
property or those services, professional or otherwise, or concerning
any circumstance or matter of fact connected with the proposed
performance or disposition thereof, which is untrue or misleading,
and which is known, or which by the exercise of reasonable care
should be known, to be untrue or misleading, or for any person, firm,
or corporation to so make or disseminate or cause to be so made or
disseminated any such statement as part of a plan or scheme with the
intent not to sell that personal property or those services,
professional or otherwise, so advertised at the price stated therein,
or as so advertised. Any violation of the provisions of this
section is a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment in the county
jail not exceeding six months, or by a fine not exceeding two
thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500), or by both that imprisonment
and fine.

Please note the term "reasonable care" in regarding advertised pricing. The State of California does not take kindly to "bait-and-switch" retail practices or other misleading or unscrupulous advertising practices. As a resident of California, this transaction is protected by California law and I intend to make sure that my rights and the rights of all California participants in this purchase are protected. Your remedy for this situation is to simply cancel all transactions involving the Logitech mouse. This remedy is not to my satisfaction. Remember that penalties for violation of this statute include monetary payment and jail time. As such, I put CompUSA on notice that I, and on behalf of other unsatisfied California participants, shall file complaints with the following agencies:

1) Office of the California Attorney-General
2) Federal Trade Consumer Consumer Bureau of Consumer Protection
3) Better Business Bureau

I urge CompUSA to rethink your remedy for this situation and devise a new remedy that will avert serious fiscal repercussions to your business.
